Edited by: Kai Jyokoroi on 23/05/2006 18:33:17 First off in the RMR patch CCP change the font to make it fuzzy and hard to read.
Now in this recent patch for some unknown reason they have doublespaced the text and left a blank line in between each entry in a chat window. In order to fit the same amount of text in the window as before so I don't have to CONSTANTLY scroll up I've had to decrease the font size and triple the size of my text window.
I can only surmise that in the next patch they will change the font to Wingdings, under the surmise of "improving legibility on high-resolution monitors" or something
I am therefore BEGGING you to put in an option to be able to change the text back to the way it was pre-patch. I mean, honestly, CCP, do you have a single HCI or Human Factors specialist on your team telling you what is bad in terms of interface design? This isn't a dumb terminal from the 80's you know! Are you TRYING to make me go blind?

No, the double spaces text really did come after the new update and it is NOT affected by the avatar option buttons on the top right of the chat, even keeping the avatars off makes the spaces between lines like 1+ or 2

The OP is exactly right, after RMR, the font started looking fuzzy, forcing me to set the font size to the largest of the 3 options, just to be able to read as well as i had been before with the medium sized font. I am not sure why it looks that bad, is it because I'm running a 5:4 resolution instead of 4:3 ? Now with the dbl spaceed text, I can select between being able to read a few lines only and scroll like mad, or not being able to read anything at all. Please, revert chat back to pre RMR, i was a lot happier with that.

hum, am i the only one that actually likes it then?
*shrugs* i've never had a problem with the font, my screen alternates between 1024x768 and 1440x900 and i find it great at both and now the slight gap between messages means i can distinguish between peoples messages easier... \o/ to CCP.

I wondered what on earth I had done to doublespace my text and I REALLY don't like it!

Doublespacing not only between lines but also between letters in cyrillic font. Awful. Had to delete some fonts from Windows directory in order to get proper functionality. /Signed

Yes, please change the text spacing back or at least give the option to the player. It's horrible.

Not only that, but I now find it impossible to select text from a chat window to use for copy and pasting, which is of course another amazingly basic fature of pretty much every program ever that has been taken away.

signed. double space chat is highly annoying. I can see the small font perfectly well and I like having my chat window compact (short) and still be able to see more than one pilot speaking at a time --- Solitaire I Feel Renewed Already |
