I've only been ing (or trying to anyways)in 0.1-0.4 Sec so far, im not big enough for 0.0. But I'm trying to find a good place to make my home...
So my question is:
How do you solo pirates pick your home regions?
Is it by race, agents, market resources...randomness? What is it?
Thanks!

dont stick to a system, by the time youve killed a few ppl, youll be known and ppl will scarper soon as you log in, or youll get camped to stop you doing anything.
Just move from area to area picking off solo players, your less likely to be recognised that way.
This is for me

move around alot, meet new people everyday...hell of alot more fun than sitting in the same spot, but on the other hand milking one good system is alot more profitable

Good Points...though how do you handle things like modules you want to keep, or diferent ships that you use, when your traveling from region to region?
I can see why being on the move, would be good, I guess I just have to figure out a good way to handle it.
Thanks for the replies too!

Pirate a region based on how successful you are, you can always move on and leave ships/mods/ammo/jump clones in a region and just move to the next.
Heres a sample of the non faction loot I've sold in the last two weeks from looting some of the biggest alliances in game.
Be smart stay on the move. Giving someone time to refit or time to drop bubbles is the biggest mistake ever. I much prefer 0.0 as there is no noob alts and if they are in local they are lootable, unknowns in local is what makes empire pirating annoying.

Myself personally, I want a balance between there being enough targets and it being too crowded, as an imbalance of either value might result in no targets or blobs chasing you day in and out. Beyond that, there's the types of rat loot to consider - one of the things I worried about when I was solo was the ability to live off the land so to speak, to realize that if I needed modules badly I just had to go out and rat to get them or the minerals I needed to make them.
Final and probably most important thing is market in the region, and your proximity to other ones in case you cant find something you need. Pirates rarely are completely self-sufficient, and I hate to alt haul anything, so being able to travel the 5 nearby regions to see what's available is great, especialy if you have an interceptor for pickups .

When I was an empire pirate I just docked at the nearest station and dropped the loot unless it was very expensive.
Then when I get poor or want to clean up my assets I just escrow everything @ 60%-80% price of what it's worth.
I love x-mas :D |

Was about to think the same... then it came to my mind, I am in the same buisness... just need to find a target where I can loot one from and someone to buy it. Just why did someone pay 10 m for it while it's being sold in Placid for roughly 1/3 a while ago?

yea, choosing one system to live in just means you will eventually be hunted out and kiled by the locals, choose a region. stay close to systems that you know have ships you can a) fly and b) use, that way if you do ever come a cropper you can grab a ship and get back out there.

On the other hand, if you like an area, stick to it. New targets come and go all the time, and a good PvPer knows how to avoid the occasional local blobs.
Indeed, they make the work more interesting. We all need a challenge to keep us on our toes or the game would be no fun. ------------------ I'm a pilot in transition |

I agree, there is nothing like the feeling of being 70+ jumps away from corp members and hq,
but...
It can get boring after a time, so my advice to the op is to be in a good corp even if you intend to solo, it will give alot of flexability.
As to the logistics of operating whilst roaming, it can be difficult. I have 2 accounts so its made easier, I move and hunt around a small blob in low sec empire for a few days, then get my alt to bring me new ammo/drones/charges and exchange it for loot and head off again. Before I had 2 accounts, I did similar but used another player for this, but he left the game along time ago which promted me to get the other acc.
If you are not an ******* to everyone you meet then you shoud find it easy to get ships brought to you in low sec and you might be able to strike a deal with a trader or trading corp like the way I did.

you really cant resist posting pics of your oober loot in every thread ever made can you anyways, op you will probably have more fun if you are in a different region every day. (I do at least) ------------------------
