Edited by: The Natural on 25/05/2006 02:03:01 This is probably in development but each lvl of AB should have a sound. If you have ever been to an airshow you know what AB sounds like:) Just go to airshow and record the sounds: frig: super sabre cruiser: f16 battleship: f15D Titan or whatever: C5 Galaxy (even thought it doesn't have afterburner) just make it rumble with different colors and effects. You Dev's rock at that kind of thing, just my suggestion. The rest of the game sounds great. The warp sounds are the best part for noobs and the first time I hit the AB I was like WTF! I expected something. That is my only rant.

You have your sound turned on in Eve? One of the first things I turned off when I started playing Eve after I got tired of the music after two or three weeks. ___________________

Uhh, you can turn off the music and leave the sound on... I wouldn't want to play without sound, I find that I can react faster and take in more information when I can use more senses then just my eyes to take in what's going on...

"your quest for realistic sounds backfires, and bites you in the ass"
As in there are no sounds in space at all. It's vacuum out there, or so I've been told.

though afterburner noise makes perfect sense since you're in a pod filled with liquid connected to a ship connected to an engine with an afterburner...
so all the sound should carry internally :p

They actually explained the 'sound in space' thing in The Jovian Wet Grave - the pod gives you information in auditory format, since we're used to hearing stuff. Thought it was a nice touch, personally.

There used to be afterburner and mwd effects. Before RMR. They were either bugged to hell or removed.

Turned my sound off back in the sensor booster or was it dampener, CTD sound bug. It hasn't been on since, except during reinstalls and I promptly turn it back off.

If the pod gives auditory cues, why the hell does it not give important auditory warnings such as: you are being targetted (beep.. beep..) and you are being shot at (beepbeepbeep) and shields are going down (HONK!...HONK!) and armor is depleted (WAAAAAIL!...WAAAAAAAIL!) Yes they'd be annoying as hell. turn sound off like you used to do. Or leave em on and fly safer, with proper warnings. It wouldnt be hard to do. Just needs a little time the devs obiously don't have meh.

Erm, you do get the locking sound if you're being targeted? But yeah, some more warning stuff would be nice to have, though of course with the option to turn them off.

Music's been off since day 1, but i couldnt imagine playing with no sound effects. Still they're usually rather muted by my other music, i can just hear the rails firing and targeting sounds .

Agree. Afterburner sound would be nice. So would some kind of effect when you enter warp. Its kinda boring as is, half the time the engine glow doesent even come on while accelerating to warp. Looks kinda screwed up. Anyway, as for the whole "your in a pod" thing, If you wanna play the game thinking your in an egg full of jello more power to ya. I for one imagine im in a c-pit or standing on a bridge when I play. I like that alot better.

ABs making sound or having some kind of effect would be cool. They could atlest make the engine flame become bigger. MWD should have a HUGE engine flame, warp tunnel type-thing around the ship (only the pilot could see that tho) and a really loud sound. Would make people crap their pants when a BlasterThron would attack. Please resize image to a maximum of 400 x 120, and not exceeding 24000 bytes, ty - Cortes |

the sounds are all alright, but what they should fix is the scale of stuff. compare a frig(1 pilot crew, only the pod) to a battleship(old figures said there were about 8000ppl in it beside the pod). compare the size of those two and you'll see what i mean.
i just flew my crusader into a planet.. that planet sure was small, you could probably run around it within a few hours =D
when i undock my bs it really doesn't feel like im looking at a very large object..

I had sound effects on until I started tanking rats while mining up in Gurista infested space. The constant "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM" of missile impacts on my hull started to annoy me.
But yeah, I was a bit dissapointed that there wasn't an extra effect from activating ABs or MWDs. If not a sound effect, at least some extra effect from the engine ports themselves, like a larger flame or something. More than just the longer contrails associated with speed. ______________________________________________
