How many of you out there have had there little afk mining jobs messed up because of all the reboots.
I dont do it too often but some people out there must be really un-happy, and the pirates amounst you must be screaming the 0.0 sec systems apart.
Reply in the reboots are eating into your profit margins.

heh, i kinda understand what u mean with it disrupting afk-mining but thats exactly what u are, your not actaully playing. So surly the priority should go to the ppl who r playing.

absolutely none here either... in fact... I hope all you AFK miners get podded.
IMO AFK mining is an OOG (out of game) way of making cash... and hence should be stopped.... period.

It just gives people one more thing to gripe about.
Also, there's the ever-so-common human reaction:
If I don't do it, it must be bad.
There are many variations of this:
If I can't understand it, it must be bad.
If I can't explain it, it never happened or doesn't exist.
If you can't prove me wrong, I must be right.
etc., etc.

Though, I don't feel sympathy for AFK miners who lose their operations due to reboots. It's just one of the many risks you take leaving your keyboard during play.

This game isnt made for AFK mining? What kind of drugs are you smoking? We have the big industrials with one laser. We have 1.0 safe space. We have people who need to go to work now and again.

LOL I just laugh at AFK miners usualy... To me it's a waste of electricity.
just using my Tech level I mining lasers alone I can mine five times faster than them, add inmy drones and forget it...
So to put it another way, If you mine at best with a tech level I miner around 50 M3 a minute...
With five of the same lasers, and even the most basic drones I will mine more in ONE hour than you can in 6. So long as it's done in the right systems, I can do it solo, without secure cans in fact with pretty much zero worries of can *****s...
Hell even with a tristan I mine 2+ times faster than you.
Sure some of you might mine actively after you get home from work or something...Kinda killing my argument, but wait theres more...
What if I Strip mine your belt while your AFK? Unless you have some 3rd party unsupported, spyware loaded bot running the show for you, I will laugh all the way to the station.
Lastly, How about this, you Pay me $12.95 a month and I'LL play the game for you? Isn't that what your already doing?
Oh well just my opinion, No flames please heheh.

Max m3/min with decent (non-miner) skills in an indy: 60*1.15 = 69m3/minute
Max m3/min with same skills, but with miner 1's/harvesters in a cruiser (the indy example used a miner 2): 5*(40*1.15) + 8*(30*1.15) = 506 m3/minute
So you go mine for 1 hour, and I'll stay mining in a cruiser for 8 minutes and we're equally "rich".

A waste of electricity? Since my pc's run all day everyday, its not a waste of electricity. I find it a waste of evetime NOT to have it on 24 hours a day. Especially since I pay for the game for 24/7 access.
I will tell you what i find a complete waste of my time when I do get a chance to be actively online - mining. Why the hell would I want to sit looking at a rock all day long. I would rather be off fighting for a valiant cause.
I LAUGH at you foolish miners who sit day after day mining for your corporation.

Anyway if you leave your PC on all day, more power to yah, just don't be upset if you wake up and find your roid patch mined out, or your pod sitting next to a secure can that reads: Can I have your stuff?
Heheh anyway like I said, just an opinion ;)
Besides, if you pod me, do I not respawn in a clone? heheh so no harm done I guess on either side, just seems pointless to me ;)

Thanks to all the replies, just wanted to hear the thoughts out there. Buy the way when you set up buy and sell orders. You are not accually playing the trading game either as this happpens even when you computer is turned off.
Mining without the player being there and trading without the player being there and blue print and manufacture with out the player being there. The only reason to be at the computer is against rats and chat. As Privously stated I think sitting at my computer to watch an asteriod slow shrik is really crap. SOme people like it, I dont.
I would rather be out there killing all those rats. But killling 200 1.5K rats for a starting player is very time consuming. And if you get it wrong its another 200K for that good frigate.
You can get a free frigate while having a good dump and a meal. Now that is better than paying ensurance.

ANYWAY, I do agree though, a lot of the things in EVE are more empty than they should be.
I mean I understand they want people to pay and play... but you do that with like I dunno... interaction.
I agree staring at a rock for 3 hours is the pits, but it's not so bad when you can dissolve that rock in 5 minutes and move on.
Not great, but not ungodly bad...
some days I'm in the mood to mine, and just sit and enjoy the view.
Other days, if my hybrids arn't giving my subwoofer a workout and my wasps arn't soloing tough NPC pirates in the background, I'm just not having fun...
Other days I could give a rats you know what about either, and literally go looking for trouble hoping some corp my corp is at war with flies past me in an equal challenge or less ship I can tangle with heheh (naturaly I run if I know I can't win heheh).
So point is, I guess, Not REALLY Judging those who AFK mine alltogether as one person, just that I don't see the point in it... for me I mean.
So if I DO happen to laugh at you while you do it, don't be all ****y at me ;) Course, you won't really know I'm laughing would you?

Well, a Thorax mines in 2 hours what a afk miner make in 24 hours. so it is really a waste of server capacity. I only laugh about this afk miners in the belts ...

So presumably you are in favour of stopping training, research, manufacturing and buy/sell orders when people are offline as they all contribute to making cash.
Having said that, afk mining has its disadavantages: pirates if you are in low sec, crashes, etc. You take the bad with the good. You get to do some mining whilst you are out of the*****pit, but you also have to take the hazards associated with that. You can't complain.
