Any chance of a SoE event??

I REALLY liked the poker tournament in lieu of the pub crawl for us old farts or non drinkers. That being said, there were a lot of pub crawlers who wanted to play poker.

Will you take a look at this thread... I'm wondering if a graphical, visualized explanation of the turret tracking formula and mechanic would be popular enough to warrant a presentation.

After the UI suggestion was so well-recieved, I've considered doing a more thorough, general use explanation of the tracking mechanic and gameplay... it's quite extensive, and covers applied examples of all subcap ship categories and subcap roles.

I think EVE Vegas would be an excellent occasion and format to present it: streamed, and full of 'a-ha' moments and lightbulbs... painlessly consuming a 15-30 minute block.

I'm quite comfortable speaking to groups and I have extensive experience giving presentations. As a sergeant in both the US Air Force and Army, I held instructional/training classes on a weekly basis.

Hey man we are trying to support this event. I understand it is a player organized event and people get busy.

BUT UPDATE THE WEB SITE!

2) No speakers yet?
3) The CCP speakers are not even listed
4) No agenda or hint of an agenda.

Ask us to buy tickets months ago to support this then nada. If this was Jita I would think I just got scammed.

I was wondering why so few rooms were available for the group rate they have been out of the discounted rooms since before September 14th and no one has looked into getting us more group rate rooms. Since they sell tickets to the function for 1 plus months past the rooms and not update that rooms are no longer available at group rates before you buy your tickets. and yes I know it states that there may be a limited # of rooms but a update would have been nice.

This is upsetting to me cause I bought my plane ticket, and eve ticket and it told me to use the discounted room code but none were left, so I'm sure about 200 of the 412 people coming may also be out of luck on saving up to 300 dollars for the discount as there has not been any available for a long time and no one from CCP updated that info before people bought there EVE tickets. Shame on you CCP and this is the first event I have gone to after 11 years of playing this game. I would hate to cancel do to lack of money to pay for a room, which also would make me want to never try to go to another function again. I'm not sure if it makes me more angry as CCP seems to screw up not just the game mechanics but also the gatherings as well.

Maybe you should look into this and get us some more group rate rooms if you want more people to show up.

PS I guess the only positive is we will have more gas to throw on the fire tonight when I guest host on Podside podcast.

Look around at other Strip Hotels if you are after a cheaper rate than the one currently available (and in some cases cheaper than the one formerly offered under the Group Rate). Plenty of places to stay in Vegas after all.

(I am not staying at the PH - through choice as I want to try to the SLS)

Planet Holywood is a large resort. Typically what happens is a group that is using the hotel for a conference will discuss terms to save some rooms at a discounted rate. The hotel sets the number of rooms available based on what else is going on. So for example, eve vegas teams goes tot he hotel and says they are expecting 500 people to show up and wonder if they can get 500 rooms. The hotel will look at that, base it on what else is going on in vegas (which is a big town with A LOT of stuff going on, esp on weekends) and come back with an offer of rooms/a rate. The discounted rate is always limited availability. So if you take too long to get your ticket, then you are SOL.

In addition, the hotel might do a special on its own for less then the group rate, as they don't honestly care as long as the rooms get filled.

Also Vegas is a big damn place. If Planet Hollywood's group rate is gone, you and you want a cheap room, you can stay at circus circus for like $40 a night if you find a good discount and its like 3 vegas blocks from PH.

Its not the eve vegas' teams fault they have a limited number of rooms. Its the hotels fault, as that was all they released. You can find plently of cheap hotels in vegas, you just might have to drive a little to get to PH.

In addition, the weekend following eve vegas, vegas is having the life is beautiful festival. So it will be packed eve vegas weekend as well, as people come in to start getting that ready. Keep all this in mind before you go pointing fingers at the eve vegas team and ccp. And one last point, the group rate is negotiated by volunteers not ccp, as this was setup as a player run event with ccp backing. If you think you can do better, then I would say be my guest to try.

Edit: There is an old saying: A lack of perperation on yoru part, does not constitute and emergency on mine. i.e. I you tok too damn long to book a room at the group rate and missed it, then that is your fault. use websites like Vegas.com to find rooms

Because of the upgrade, I went ahead and booked the overpriced PH room using the Eve Vegas link to make sure I was eligible (It was about $300 more than booking a flight and PH hotel package on Expedia). Not a huge deal, but it does cut into my fun money.

Since I haven't heard from anyone in four days, the statement from the website is making me increasingly nervous: "For room upgrade or suite upgrade prizes you will need to submit a receipt for a room booking at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, Las Vegas, during at least 2 of the 3 conference dates (Oct 17-19) within 48 hours of being notified of the win via email."

No one has notified me via evemail, PM, or personal mail so I'm assuming the clock has not started to lose the room. Just to be safe, I'm forwarding my confirmation to the website's email address: [email protected]. The confirmation is from 9/19. Any updates would be helpful.

We'll go to a few different bars for drinks and shenanigans, at some point we'll ride the high roller and get more drinks and then we'll end up in a place where we can all hang out. And have more drinks! :D

Last year we actually ended up in a place that had a sort of roller coaster. This is just an easy sight seeing roundabout thingie for sophisticated ladies and gentlemen.

Last year we were picked up in party buses to move us between the bars. While on the bus we were given our drink tickets too. Also at some point in the night I remember riding in this amazing stretch Hummer... I'm a little foggy on that one
Also the Stratosphere was a great place to round off the night. Should we expect more of the same this year or are we hoofing it all night?

Does the reception on Saturday include food? I see open bar but was wondering about food.

Access to the EVE Vegas 2014 Reception at the Chateau Nightclub on the Saturday night, that includes an open bar with wide selection of beverages for 3 hours.

Kinda torn between sharing the \o/ and being all :( over the lack of one huge queue for food. Met so many people in that queue last year, was a party in and of itself.

P.s. Greygal, we'll have a private outdoor patio overlooking the strip, right beneath the 'Eiffel Tower'. Not sure if that's the terrace or the rooftop but I can probably find out. Sounds terrace-y to me though. The guys who went location scouting were blown away by it at least.

To redeem the ticket the mail says to bring a "ticket confirmation number" ... Where do I find this? The only number I can see is the 8 digit payment ID from the payment history / confirmation mail ...
