Been away for a while. Used to ninja a lot with a different character and enjoyed some success with it. This was back around 2008-2009.
I'm reading bits and pieces here and there about the whole ninja salvaging deal having been nerfed almost completely, and that, consequently, what we're left with is the continued opportunity to loot wrecks (and thus become a target ourselves in the process.)
Is this more or less what the deal is now?
I'd appreciate any details.
Cheers. |

Since 2009...
The Noctis makes it hard for you to compete for loot and salvage, if you even care about that.
The suspect flag makes you a legal target to everyone, making it easier to flag yourself, but also more risky.
The MTU gives you something to shoot at and possibly kill even if they don't take the bait. |

Looting a wreck, that does not belong to you, will now give you a suspect flag. Which will allow anyone willing to engage you. Read up on crimewatch.
Salvaging however, has not changed. |

Thanks, you two.
I'll forego all the "man, that's bullshit!!" remarks (yes, those are *my* tears) . . .
and see what I can eke out of the situation. Though I'm prepared to do other things. |

The other big change is that salvage prices have plummetted due to exploration changes. (People run exploration content looking for valuable BPCs, but get enormous amounts of salvage and decryptors as consolation prizes; consequently these things have seen their prices fall down down down)
This means the act of salvaging someone's wrecks won't annoy them any more, as they almost certainly did not intend to do so.
Most mission invasion now revolves around scanning down Mobile Tractor Units, killing them (which flags you as legal for anyone to attack for 15 min), loot them and smacktalk the MTU owner. MTU kills generate killmails; linking these in local alongside a "this stuff was all crap" is generally the best way to provoke aggression.
Remember - you cannot escalate but the mission runner can. Set the universe on fire - then sell the survivors ash. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238931 - an idea for a new form of hybrid PVE/PVP content. If you want to mine in highsec, read www.minerbumping.com. |

I gotta say i tried the whole ninja salvaing / mission runner baiting thing .. and from what i would say around 40 missions i've invaded ( ? ) only 2 people actually agressed me back , or should i say had the cohones to try and kill me .
I know for a fact some people are still successfull at it , but in all fairness , atleast from my view point .. its not what it used to be .
Because of the salvage prices drop and the loot drop nerf , most mission runners cba to salvage and loot the wrecks so they-re not gonna go all out to risk a ship for few isks .
What could still work is if you invade missions that drop certain items they need to complete the mission , if you take that from them odds are you will get the desired effect .
Also random convo invites talkin dirty and stuff doesn't work either .. i think most of them built up an immunity to that -á- I am the commanding officer , u should adress me as sir ! -á- But if i call u sir , what would i call your wife then ?? |

I've found that mission runners generally don't agress however if you invade a combat plex and loot the boss npc then they pretty much 'always' agress to get their shiny loot back That is the Way, the Tao.
Balance is everything.

I only tried about ten times - never actually got lucky appart from a guy who already was suspect warping to the site. Was told by a fellow who used to jump missoiners like crazy and got fights every single night it seemed to judge by his Kill Board. He told me the trick was to be as annoying as you possibly can be.
Taking mission items. Shooting their MTU and posting the KM in local crying about how the loot fairy wasn't on your side etc. Note that he didn't jump in with something "obviously" engageable like I thought one had to use AFs or similar. He ran with a Gnosis or Prophecy and still according to him got like 20% to engage him.
OT: Reason we got chatting was that I saw him having a kill right to I scanned him down and engaged him while he was toying with a navy raven. Best 1v1 I've had, apparently he burned out all his modules and was in 4% structure when my cane popped Had that raven just fired a single volley he'd be toast but apparently he could go on about his business as he pleased. |

Certain missions are more likely to produce results than others. Missions that drop tags or have critical loot for completion severely torque off mission runners like myself when interfered with. This is of course due to either no longer being able to complete the mission because you've stolen 'the precious', or because the ships themselves have no bounty and by swiping the tags you are denying the runner of any profit other than the LP for the run. Congrats, you just jacked em right in the Greed. This was done to me in the past and it actually got me to lock and fire on the ingenious little bastich who managed to taunt me this way. Yes, I'm a bear, but I fully endorse all forms of gameplay, not just my own. If yer gonna be bad, be good at it :) |

It does take a while to find a victim.
I'd suggest scanning down as many mission runners as you can and just warp to each of them while suspect. This way you get through those 20 missions per aggressor a bit quicker
Many times they won't know when you went suspect and will assume you must have stolen something from there; especially if they are in a second or further pocket. |
