Amusing thread, but for those who are spamming my Inbox about this because they think for one fraction of a moment this would ever happen, I have some bridges in New York I'd like to sell you.
Odd thing about player driven games:
The players may choose something you do not like.

Speaking of which, while flying my indy to you with the cargo of monkies you requested to be picked up from TomB, Pann, I decided to drop off the said items at his living quarters (He'd previously bought them at a station near me, I decided to save him a trip ), I accidentally jettisoned some pigs with laced wings over a planet as I passed. Yeah, I wonder how CCP would react if we ignored any sort of action they put forward and simply did what a player self proclaimed universal leader told us to.
However on a personal note, I don't understand how Pann flaming the boards like this is constructive. For the person who is supposed to be the community manager, its a pretty silly thing to do. In my opinion, it should be deleted for trolling and flaming in accordance with the rules of the boards.

Edited by: Jash Illian on 25/09/2003 14:27:12 What's wrong with this picture is that people (especially some people at CCP) are forgetting something:
Part of a roleplaying game is seeing where the adventure leads.
So much hatred is slung towards Stavros as a person, the 'Roleplayers' have tossed everything they allegedly believe in to the side to complain about him as a person. And they ignore the many, many possibilities such a move could provide.
Amarr Civil War, anyone?
The Rise and Fall of the Amarr Empire?
The Minmatar Ascension (through the ensuing chaos caused by such a move)?
The Amarr Reclamation of Minmatar Space (obviously Stavros wants new hull cleaners for his bships, though I'm disinclined to provide them).
But rather than actually consider something that could lead to an adventure, something that would be visible and interactive, we get...what?
Flames and mockery

Not only lead to an adventure, but would be a revolutionary step in online games playing.

Remember..
AMAAR NEEDS YOU!
Vote for Stavros, vote for Amaar!
If I were an Amarrian, or anyone eligable to vote for an Amarrian emperor, I'm not sure I'd entrust my vote to someone who cannot spell the name of his own race.
Good job there, Stav.
On the other hand, I love how you've gone and made Pann bitter, so I've kind of got mixed emotions.
And Pann - You never know, TomB might just show up for work in a pink tutu some day. I'm not sure what I can do about monkeys flying out yer butt, but hey, money talks.

Plenty of things happen "that could lead to an adventure, something that would be visible and interactive" but this isn't it - funny and a good read though it was. Horses for courses as they say, and this one belongs in the donkey derby.

Oh come on people. The whole thread is/was a bit of harmless fun. Who seriously expects CCP to install Stavros as Amarr emperor? Control of all police and sentry guns in a significant portion of empire space? Ownership of some stations, possibly ability to tax all transactions in Amarr space?
It's a fun thread, but actually getting mad cuz CCP won't do it is pretty silly.

Eh...so many ways to respond, so little desire to flame you back into reality.
Could point out that CONCORD is a separate sovereignty unto itself, sponsored byt the four empires and wouldn't necessarily agree to anything Stavros said.
Could point out that not all stations in Amarr space are owned by the Amarr Empire and wouldn't follow Stavros' edicts (might take advantage of the situation and lower taxes as incentive to shop there).
Could point out that corporations are individual entities and not necessarily under Amarr edicts, even if they're Amarr corporations. After all, Microsoft is a US corporation and gives the US Justice Department more headaches than many criminals.
Could point out that many people responding in the negative have chosen flaming as the basis of their arguments...including Pann.
But why point out anything that makes sense when people are insisting on reacting like the monkeys that shoulda stayed up in the trees instead of walking upright and evolving?
That'd make too much sense

This thread whilst being about me is also about the problems with the prime fiction and how it is now IMPOSSIBLE to apply it to the eve world as it stands.
Amaar vs Minmattar war eh? Oh great someone better tell all the mixed race corps to degenerate into civil war then...

Stav, do you deliberately misspell it Amaar?
If so, why?
On another note, congratulations on becoming the single most popular, well-known player in EVE. You have officially obtained the dream that I imagine most any serious EVE player has.

And so Stavros' reign would last as long as it takes for people to pod him back to kindercare and destroy his assets. My...wouldn't that be interesting?
Personally speaking, I prefer this to something that never happens and the acting ability that elevate Soap Operas to Shakespearean efforts seen during events that are 80% travel, 19% talk and 1% action.

Quote: Amarrian Commitee of Moral Purity and Elimination of Vice regrets Stavros' claim to throne - condemns his actions heretical
The Amarrian Committee of Moral Purity and Elimination of Vice has condemned Stavros' claims that he intends to go forth as an Emperor. The Amarrian ruling system is an ancient and proven far more efficient at retaining order and peace than the decrepit and chaotic system sometimes referred to as Democracy. It considers his public appeal for the Throne heretical to say the least and strongly urges him to retract his bid and apologize publicly for making the remarks he did where he criticised various prominent Amarrian community leaders.

In light of recent news coverage I will not be withdrawing my big to become emperor as I believe the commity to be biased and heavily influenced by certain members of the amarr aristocracy.

Dear Stavros and campaign team. Though truly I canĘt endorse your claim on the Amarri throne per say (since you are a dreadful loon with the attention-span of a goldfish); speaking as a Gallente national in high standing, I do endorse your right to declare the intention to break up the structural tyranny of the Amarr Empire with sweeping quasi-democratic reform.
I encourage you therefore to take a fleet into Amarr space and operate from the centre of the Empire you wish to claim. I would personally love to see the fleets of Jamyl Sarum blasted asunder by a surprise claimant from the cheap seats, and simply by striking a blow for anarchy and revolution in the days to come, you will become the unwitting ally of freedom and progressive political evolution.
If security level is a problem for you Stavie-babes, I can recommend a good agent and I promise not to pod you in an egg if I see you running agent missions for chump-change in the hinterlands.
Luck mĘdear! And donĘt let the plutocrats and syphilitic catamites drag you down!
