Hey, I recently killed a procurer in a 0.4 system and didn't pod kill the poor guy. Now normally i would take between 1% - 3% sec status hit but this time i took 11% and now i can't go to HS.
It is going to cost me around 200m in soldier tags if i want to go back. Is this a normal amount to take a hit by as i have sometimes engaged in High sec and i have not lost as much sec stat as i did on that particular kill.

For not podding the guy, that seems large. Are you sure you didn't lock his pod and activate any highslot module, even a scram against it while someone else killed it?
You don't need to spend that much ISK. You can rat for the tags. Both Barlequet and Aulbres ( And surrounding systems) seem to have good spawn rates of clone soldier rats and with BNI virtually non-existant in Barlequet now, you can pretty much rat to your hearts content.
Additionally, you don't need to bring yoursec status back to 0. You can spend less and just bring it back under -2 Come Win At Eve - Join The Vendunari

did you agress the pod? I'm pretty sure podding gives a large sec hit.
Just accept it and stop living in highsec, congratulations you've finished the tutorial! You'll probably get more fights once you go flashy as well.
If not then you can always farm sec from rats I guess. This is not a forum alt, this is a forum main. |

Well i did lock his pod and scram it but that's it(i do that with most of my victims u never know they may pay you to keep there implants). and i have been fighting in low for 4 months and never took a hit like it i just want clarification as to it was a glitch or not , i may think twice next time b4 i engage a miner for no reason lol.

That's enough. Someone else killed him and you're on the KM. Congrats! |

There you go, that's your 11% right there. ANY form of agression outside of a Limited Engagement results in a heavy sec hit, and it's even heavier against pods. |

I have locked pods, webbed, scrammed and even killed pods in the past. none of what had as bad a standing hit than this one did.
Something doesn't seem rite. my sec status went from - 1.6 to - 2.5 btw |

That's a lot more than 11%. What does the sec status log say?

Maybe you don't know how sec status is calculated.
It's something with their sec and the systems value.
5 and .4 makes for a big hit against a pod. |

You have two options:
1. Petition it. They are surprisingly responsive on these kind of things.
2. Leave the purulent and flaccid warrens of hi-sec space forever and get your hands dirty.
I suggest #2.

If you point the pod, you mine as well kill it. You are going to get a sec status hit regardless. Unless of course you are going for the ransom. |

So i filed a support ticket to CCP about the issue and apparently a 56%(-1.6 to -2.5) status hit for killing a mining barge and warp scramming a pod (not killing it) in a 0.4 system is within the normal game mechanics(not that i in my 3 years playing eve have ever noticed but hey if CCP say then it must be true.) |

Working as intended.
If you never saw it before, I guess your previous targets tried to fight back - this creates a limited engagement flag and allows you to do whatever you want with that pod without any effect on your sec status. But if the target was only trying to flee and didn't use any drones or modules against you - then you will get a penalty similar to what you've seen just for scramming the pod. |

You do not have to pod the guy for the big security hit. Simply agressing his Capsule will already inflict the major punishment. The only way to not get that sec hit is to be in a limited engagement with him or him being suspect.

This is probably what happened to you.
Even miners will often have combat drones out to deal with belt rats that will inadvertently fight back and provoke a Limited Engagement that allows you to legally pod them. However, it sounds like in this case it didn't happen, so aggressing his pod was a pure criminal action. |

Please stop calling this a "56%" hit. Yeah, there's a 56% difference between the two numbers, but that's not really meaningful in any way.
You took an 11% hit which, based on your current sec status, results in a 56% change in the absolute magnitude of your sec status. The 11% is the only number with any actual meaning there, as the actual magnitude of the change is based on the fact that you were pretty close to 0 to begin with.
What would you call it if you had actually been right at 0.0 before? An Infinity-percent status hit? |
