this is just a little research for my new, up-and-coming eve community site. its nearly finished but id like to get a generalised idea of the demographic im likely to be facing.
basically, the idea of my site is to organise and hold competitive events every so often, in whatever games EVE players play, wether it be eve or otherwise (take counter-strike for example), and offer ISK and ships or whatever else i can get my hands on, as prizes. the few people ive pitched the idea to, have shown an amazing amount of support for the idea, and i have even been offered up free forum hosting, and a counter-strike source server to use.
id like to get an idea of what games people play, and how often. the only requirment is that it has to have multiplayer online capabilities (obviously). it can be anything, including PS2/XBLIVE/NDS wifi games.

Eve is really the only game i play online.
I have Star Wars: Empires at war which i quite like but for some reason i can't play the online multiplayer.
I also enjoy empire building and management games like Civ: call to power 2. Imperium Galactica 2, and my personal favourite (although an older one): Star Trek: Birth of the Federation. Inside my mind.

I play BF2 when i want a quick fix of gaming (when i dont have time for EVE). Thinking about it, I dont really play any of my other games anyw more - occasionally, i.e. once a month or so I'll dabble in CS:S, but apart from that its EVE or BF2 all the way. -

TrackMania Nations seems to be the only other game I'm playing atm.
I play that when I don't have time to spend on Eve.

thanks for the feedback, im just trying to sort some hosting issues and get a forum and the site will go live very soon, maybe even today if all goes peachy.
im quite suprised about BF2 actually, i myself and a couple of nerft also play it when eve is slow, the problem being is because its such a large-scale game, at least 20 people are required just to play one map (realistically) so unless theres a HUGE demand for it, i dont see it happening, unfortunatley. i guess CS 1.6 , or source would be way more popular as you can go as little as 1v1and ittl still be fun. also, even though i have pure hatred for the entire genra of games, i will try to get Red Alert and Civ 4 events hosted.
and most DEFINATLEY trackmania nations, not just because its free, because it royally owns and i own the entre series (so far :))

I don't see how a small bf map needs any more players than a game of CS:S.... of course it'll be unlikely that we play the bigger 64 maps, but imo a 16 player map is perfectly achievable. -

well as i said, if you reckon its playable and theres the support for it, ill host events for it. i just figured because its more wideley played on the large-scale rather than small-scale. plus servers are really hard to find. but ill worry about that after i actually get launched.

Maverick, how does dod:s compare to dod? Is it still 1 shot kills and good balanced guns? or is it more arcadey like cs/cs:s conversion was?

its not the same, you have ironsights now, its pretty much one-shot for the rifles but the SMG and HMGs are terribly inaccurate. recoil is absolutley hourrendous. guns are pretty overpowered still but have a slow ROF on the rifle.
and the guns sound REALLY BEASTY. its quality. its worth $20 if thats your point.

Dod sourc had some problems with hitboxes in the start.. and imo they fixed it 99%, and there is only 1 bug left that annoyes me/that i know of.
The classes has changed alot, weapons are a bit different. Its not as historical correct as the original(no britans, no more german named classes etc.) There are only like 5-6 maps(more comming).
But its a great laugh, and a great game.
Worth the money imo.

Shadowbane (i'm going to play Shadowbane much more once they put in the new patch). It's actually really fun as is, too. My Aracoix Thief (bird-man with daggers) has like the best gear in the game, but he's a low level. It's so much fun to take out people who are level 75 while i'm only level 53. =p
Halo: Combat Evolved: Custom Edition. AKA Halo for PC. Custom Edition is basically a separate game where people can make their own maps and you can choose from an entirely different list of servers.
Warcraft 3. Mostly just because I have a billion friends who play there. On Friday nights I usually log on to have a nice game of Dark Deeds or Parasite with my clan.
That about sums it up. I mostly play EVE of course though. ----- Want to join a true pirate corp that will accept and train newbs, and also recruit pros? More info here: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=343001 |

*EDIT* looks like im not getting my mario kart DS tournament :(
imo the guns are not overpowered or anything likely.. there is a great balance, and every weapons has its use, its mostly about playing style.
I play as germany mostly though.

The Sims 2: Special Olympics. You can find it in 'The Sims' aisle in your local games store.
I play Return to Castlewolfenstein: Enemy Territory.

One thingy they really fixed was the bazooka, it now has a real use in breaking up camp spots.
The sg44(i think thats the name...german support) really pwns if you have use it. Probably the best gun in the game, but if your not use how to work the recoil you will struggle. The Bar cannot go prone anymore and act like an mg it's now support only. Riflemen need a pistol though quiet badly.
Snipers suck balls as they can go unscoped and scoped now...

when i said that, i didnt mean it in a bad way.
yeah, the guns are powerful, 2 bullets from an HMG like the MP44 or BAR max and youre toast, 1 if you get the right hitzone, but the recoil is so terrible that you very rarely connect two bulets in a row. and i like it that way, because you have the option for single-shot and fire one shot at a time, accuratley enough to mid-range combat and suitable for 95% of maps (can be a bit stupid on avalanche at times). its an excellent game and well worth $20 dollars.
the only gripe is servers that dont limit to one HMG and 2 snipers, otherwise you get 5 people prone next to a flag with MG42s and you cant even get close without divine intervention.
but yeah, back on topic.i think i may host a few "classic" events on games that have had thier prime, and are now free. examples of this are Grand Theft Auto 1 & 2, Tribes (the origional, not Tribes 2) and other things i can find. anyone interested in this?
