look at EDF's recruitment thread.
They state FLAT OUT that there is dedication required for employment, i.e. 3 hours/day 5 days/week.
If you don't agree with that, or don't like it, then leave the corp. Nobody forces you to be with them.
Personally, I like EDF- before my current corp I gave them a lot of consideration.
One thing that drives CEOs nuts is having 50 people online that are all "doing thier own thing" 99% of the time.
As a corp, you are responsible for mantaining the opearations and backbone.
As someone said, many fighting PvPers love to have all those modules and ships readily available, and don't think of the effort needed to make them readily available.
So while it may seem drastic, and very sternly worded, the reasoning behind the order is acceptable.

I had a CEO say "if you aren't doing X, right now then you should leave" ...
So I left. (As did the tax revenue from my missions).
I didn't let the drama llama make a visit. Some people like telling others what to do.

As long as everyone knew that escorting freighters is what's expected of them, there's no problem with this.
It's harsh, but fair.
This signature is a tribute to the greatest signature of all time. It's not the greatest signature ever, it's just a... Tribute!! |

Employers who motivate their employees with threats find themselves with vacancies to fill.
More an observation on a former employer than on this thread.

You can disagree with the ceo and officers, even voice your opinion, but an order is an order and you follow it.
I got a big mouth when anyone orders me about and I don't like their tone, but I stfu fast, (after venting my opinion), and do my job (game-play time allowing).
Do your part for the group or leave (even if it is with a target on your back) as far as I am concerned.

No one ever required people who weren't/couldn't be online to assist with it.
This seems like a mail directed at folks who would be off mining/ratting instead of assisting the convoy. Seeing as ASCN convoys have to travel over 50 jumps through 0.0, 100mil requirement for skipping it is about what an average person could make doing activities in game other than escorting.
John, and EDF, are many things, but unreasonable about things like this is not one. It's hard work running a 400+ man corp in 0.0. :)

When I was EDF john was a great CEO.
Not sure if thats changed since he joined ASCN but I'm quite sure this is just anti-ascn/edf smear tactics posted with an alt.

I'll always have lots of <3 for EDF 'cos they recruited me into my first corp in eve and taught me quite a few important lessons.
Didn't stop me turning to the dark side though ---------------------------------

Edited by: Flash Landsraad on 26/05/2006 22:11:14 I'd send a corp mail back telling him to '**** off' then pod kill him and leave the corp tbh.
Bad CEO.
No need to speak like that without cause to corp members.

To be honest, If I could dedicate time to Eve, I would probably join that corp. I've run a couple of quake and quake2 clans (oh the horror) and wish I could run it like a real military organization. Even though it reall is about "fun," it would be nice to have an extremely/compliant corp that would really *make* a difference.

What business does this have on the forums. A CEO is completely free to talk to his members internally in whatever way he/she damn well pleases, and if you don't like it. There's always the recruitment channel. This alt whining/flaming thing is so freaking childish. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

Wow, talk about a thread backfire. A CEO tries to weed out the trash in his corp, and some little weasel gets on his alt and tries to stir up trouble. Too bad 90% of the posters agree with the CEO

I disagree with the approach taken.
Basically it's a case of, if you can't play that night, don't come back.
You are supposed to fit gaming around real life, not the other way round.

Dno if anyone else suggested this but, before the genious CEO of doom removes your roles, use them to steal all the corps stuff, then let him fire you

Edited by: James Snowscoran on 26/05/2006 22:37:16 I wish we had better and more differentiated taxation systems so we could tax people more heavily on their moneymaking efforts and then use carrots rather than whips to make people do the stupid chores that all corps needs done. -----

EDF has 400 members has 2 outpost.
Rox you are an idoit and you may ask who i am but i cant be bothered to tell you convo me ingame and i will give you the info.
How bad can a ceo be if he has dragged his corp to build 2 outpost tech 2 bpo's a catitol ship program and reduced price ships oh and been promoted to high command of ASCN. If that is a bad CEO what would a good CEO be like

maybe be able to do that stuff and treat the people under him with an ounce of respect?
recruit people who would help without such force behind the request?

I don't see the problem with it tbh. If you want the corp to act well the simple fact is spending all your time asking nicely will often not get you far. To get things done right and on time you have to be a bit of a ball buster and not take any excuses.
The people who know you will already understand and not get worked up about it, the people expecting to join and freeload (making good isk of the areas the corp worked to secure) will be shocked.
If you don't like it leave, from what I can tell no one kept it a secret the corp expects you to put your share of effort into group ops so you have no excuses.

Edited by: crom ralphfao on 26/05/2006 23:13:49 Edited by: crom ralphfao on 26/05/2006 23:10:38 you could justify beating or yelling at your wife and kids as well......but most people would be put off.
i have a real job, am 33 years old, if my wife happens to be horny during a mandatory corp ops, who do you think is going to get my attention?
am i missing something?....maybe you should offer 100 mil to everyone that attends.
but in any case, there are the sign up stipulants and they account for something, but it still makes me feel edgy when people get hostile over games.....even games that are your only social life.
