I know there's a few muppets who put their own bounties on to look hard, but I've just seen someone with a 1.25 bill bounty. That's billion, not million!!! 
Must have some trustworthy corpmates.

Look it up ingame. Escrow screen, then hit "bounties" across the top, then "most wanted"

He's an event character head of serpentis, unlikely to ever be killed unlikely to be ever seen in anything less than a dread without godmode on.

I find it unlikely that a pirate with the largest bounty in the game on his head would pod himself for the money.
It's got to be an ego trip to be at the top. If he podded himself, he would have a lot of money, (but not the most in the game) and he would just be another annoying pirate, like the rest of his brethren.  Status, and "being somebody" is worth far more than money, especially when ISK is not real money, but your character, which is a reflection of the person you really are, is at the top of something, like the most wanted list.
It's probably a badge of honor that he wears with pride.

The idea of someone with "latest kills" in their bio makes me think they don't get many (not saying he doesn't but anyone with latest kills in their bio must either update a lot or not have reason to)
Still, looks like he killed the right guy

Looking at his last few posts he has too much ISK.
I'd guess the bounty is self placed.

1.2bn is not a lot these days. Back in the day there was someone with 1bn bounty, whilst impressive, was most likely not real.
Some pirate even have it in their bio "put a bounty on me"

Anyway, all really high bounties are self-placed. Most of those are even on alts that hardly log on purely for the e-peen waving bonus of getting oyur face on billboards.
Dentara might be an exception, I don't know.

I'm not bothered about your bounty but your sig links are awesome. I nearly had a fit with the mod one.
The highest I saw was 50+mil. that was on the Billboard lol.

Well how does the most wanted list work? I lost a ship to a gatecamp last month and when i went and checked where they were on the most wanted list, the second biggest bounty pirate was second on the list, but the biggest wasnt even on it which made no sense at all to me

Think i can recall someone with like 15Bn bounty like a year ago, then it vanished in someway and next one was Motherinlaw(with another 10+bn bounty)
Lately i only remember see salvador sarpati, but of course it's an event guy (never wondered why he spent 33 years in a corp

The really big bounties are often (not alawys) self-inflicted by folks leaving the game.
Many other bounties are places on individuals by Corp mates.
A few are placed by enemies/victims.
I've been Third most wanted Eve, and the Most wanted active player.

The bouty system is a touch borked. Enemies don't add to bounties, cuz you can just get a corpie or alt to pod you , and band your bank balance is added to by the people whove attacked you.

Dentara flys a navy mega and sits in atlar station afk 22 hours a day.....:P, Havent seen him fly solo yet. just with 4 or 5 of his buddys sadly.
