Interesting way of doing an auction.
Nice touch with the "no fixed end date"

Is this sort of auction even allowed? If so, that sucks.

Its the sellers rules so it is allowed, frustrating maybe but you dont have to bid if you dont like it.

Edited by: Xiano on 28/05/2006 08:50:19 Minimum bid for the sealed auction is 20bil, so you won't get it for 1 isk.
Sealed means that no one gets to see each others bids.
Sometimes it can be good for the seller, if all the bidders assume that everyone is bidding high then they must bid high in order to stand a chance.
Also can be bad for the seller, if everyone only bids low, i.e 20bil and then one bidder puts in 21bil then he will get it far lower than a standard auction would have got.
It also eliminates snipers.
Does of course rely on the integrity of the seller to be honest, if he doesn't get a high enough bid, he can just say that he got a higher bid and then refuse to sell it to the real high bidder!
Oh, and free bump

Yes.
I feel it is a fairer format because it eliminate the overwhelming advantage those with no lives have in the auction world. If that means it goes for a lower price, so be it.
It is hoped that those with the isk to be in the running for this bpo also have the intelligence to bid what the bp is worth to them instead of falling into the logic trap that more open auctions create.
