Edited by: Lala Ru on 28/05/2006 01:51:01 I'm currently running missions in low-sec. It's for Rodan Shipyards, so its mostly courier missions. Hence, I'm getting an Exequror so I can haul around stuff.
The problem: My last cruiser was destroyed by some sniping battleships. This time I'm determined not to make the same mistake, so I'm looking for a setup which will ensure the strongest fourty seconds of tank needed to make it from 15 km. to the gate.
Currently (all this is on paper), I can fit an 10 MN Afterburner (currently training for Micro warp drive) a Medium shield booster, a Large shield extender, an Invulnerability field, and an 800mm plate just in case. Is there a better way to tank a Exequror for 40 seconds?

No amount of tanking on that cruiser will save you from one sniping bs. Best thing to do is go nanos/mwd and just be faster.

Assuming it's not very busy, a cloaking device can save your ship, simply turn it on as you drop out of warp and they can't touch you while you crawl toward the gate. They could warp to the gate and fly around to decloak you, but most snipers wont take the chance of getting caught at close range with a sniper setup on. once you're within 3km of the gate you can turn it off, then you only need to survive one volley before you're in range of the gate.

Thanks for the responses. Cloaking devices look expensive, so I'll try the MWD + Nanofibers first.
Just curious, are there any Electronic Warfare modules that will increase the amount of time it takes someone to lock onto me? I've never been quite sure how locking time is handeled.

Shield Resistance Amps and a large shield extender or two. If it is Tempest you are getting sniped by then put explosive and kinetic amps on.

sheild tank, nanons and mwd as was suggested.
you dont want to do any aggressive action towards the snipers since then you wont be able to jump.

Surely If they are below a certain sec which they prob will be you can dampen them. If not just wait until They have fired of 1 volley, THey may have boosters but if they dont their locking range will be about 20km max with reasonable dampeners and their locking time will be about 1 min, again with reasonable dampeners. But yea I'd just MWD to the gate or even better use insta's.

The problem is that you cannot really predict what kind of ships are camping, so you cannot really prepare with the right resistance mods for it. And without that an Exequror is pretty much dead even with a MWD if the campers pay attention.
The best (say: "only" if you have 2+ snipers) solution is to make insta bookmarks. Yes, they are a hassle to make, but not only give you basically an immunity to gatecamping, they also make your general missionrunning faster, within 2-3 runs by a route with instabookmarks you already got the time back you invested in making them.

Yeh it may take some time, but you earn it back really fast, make those BM! and every character can make BM so use an alt, its saver and you can just put the BM on escrow and claim them with your main and tadaa no +200 k gheylord snipers anymore
/edit: Put 1 ab, 1 large shieldextender in medslot and 2X invuln
fill low up with stabs, because you are just hauling nobody will find it weird if you use stabs, its just clever. _________________________________________________

Just so you know, if you do anything to anyone, you'll have to wait 30 seconds before you can actually go through the gate..

Yes, but they don't work from 200km. The only way to beat a sniping battleship is to snipe it yourself, or be too fast. Plus as someone else said activating /any/ module on someone locks you out of the gate for 30 seconds.
