If I am sitting in traffic, and the guy behind me keeps ramming into my car I would get out of my vehicle, pull him out of his and beat him until he apologized or until he died. Call it road rage, or whatever... but actions have consequences. A logical response to someone harassing you is to retaliate.
While I completely understand bumping is a game mechanic, and should remain that way, there should be some sort of suspect flag if it's continuous. By all indications, if someone is bumping you repeatedly they are looking for a response. Let that response include the option to fight. |

Anyhow, just to clarify what you're saying is you want to keep your ability to bump people senselessly and not get shot at? That sounds pretty weak and pathetic. Oh, and 50% of your ideas don't apply because they hide in NPC corps. The other half don't apply because I do live in null sec, in a pvp alliance. Every once in a while null-dwellers do like to operate in empire though. So your assumptions are false and your point of view is lacking.
It's too easy. If you harass someone, they should be able to fight you. |

Of course, you could have the mechanics not register the second or third bump... so then the bumpers would just flip it around and bump one of their friends into you.
Quite basicly, your idea is a lose-lose situation.
If they can write the code to process the physics of bumping, then I'm pretty sure they can run checks in the bump process it's self. They can also require a base speed/mass combination for the bump counter. It's too easy to exclude cases like you suggest. |

If someone going 2-3km/s+ hits another person who's stationary, that's not an "undock". That's not a Mach turning around. If the "bump" causes your speed to go from "0m/s" to "1500m/s" that's not any of your scenarios either... not to mention as I stated it would need to happen multiple times. The server already needs to relay that information between clients... saying it can't handle sorting out who bumped who is a joke. Also, as far as police go, if someone is ramming my car repeatedly then yeah. I will most definitely get off easily beating the other driver senseless. |
