Tried to fit Shandling's setup, but just don't have the grid available. I've been using high 3x 200mm scout autocannon 1x arbalest rocket launcher mid 1x cold-gas afterburner 2x small shield extender II low 3x shield power relays
It has worked great so far. not run lvl 2 missions yet because not high enough rating with any corp. doesn't have any trouble on lvl 1 missions, and ive taken out a battlecruiser with 2 frig escort using this setup without having to warp out.

Do you have a link to that setup by any chance? Thanks

My Jaguar:
3x 200mm Autocannon II's 1x Arbalest Missile Launcher
1x 1mn Afterburner II 1x Med. Extender II 1x Kinetic Shield Amp II 1x Shield recharger II
2x SPR 1x Gyrostabilizer II
1x Purger Rig (gonna get lvl 5 Shield rigging before I put on a second Purger)
2103 Shield HP 27hp/sec Regen (with 1 rig) 75em/60exp/66kin/60thm Resists
Works great for R2 and R3 missions. What do you think Shandling?

Edited by: Kae McClana on 25/02/2007 23:10:00 I have this passive tanked Jag waiting on mech 5 to finish in the next couple days, all shield skills are at the level I ran the numbers at for this setup.
3x 150mm Scout, Arbalest Rocket Launcher Med Shield Ext II, M51 Recharger, Kinetic Resist Amp(named or t2), Gistii AB 3x Shield Power Relays
EM/EX/K/T = 70/60/59.5/60 Shield max regen is just over 21/s for me.
With two shield purger rigs if you have money to throw away it can get to a little over 33/s. Which I'll probably do if/when the rigs drop in price by half.

It seems as though I have a rather unique craft.
High: 3x 150mm Scouts 1x E5 Proto Vampire
Med: 2x Fixed Parallel Link-Cap 1x Cold-Gas Arcjet Thrusters
Low: 1x 200mm Tungsten Armor 1x Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane 1x Small Automated Carapace
I only have approximated 1 million Skill points and to get this working you'd need 44 powergrid. It works wonders. The few Lv2 Combat Missions I have done I never had to warp out.

I use a setup along similar lines for low-sec ratting and running complexes (3/10 complexes are relatively easy if you fly smart)
Highslots: 3x 150mm T2 (cheaper then scouts, only require a bit more CPU) 1x named rocket launcher (OE-something is rather cheap at about 150K)
Meds: 1x cold-gas AB (T2 is too damn expensive although it fits, meh) 1x X5 prototype webber (probably a cap recharger would be better for 90% of PvE things) 1x fleeting warp scrambler (just in case)
Lows: EANM I (T2 is too expensive to fit on a T1 frig, blah) Small Armour Rep II 200mm RT plate (when I take more then I can tank)
Has a total of 1120 armour, goes up to 890m/s with an AB which you can permarun with any cap skills. With navigation V and the T2 burner it'd probably go up to 1km/s with an AB alone :)
If you don't fit cap recharges in mids, though, you can't run the armour repper for long, but since I mostly fly it in low-sec, I want my webber and scrambler just in case, and plate serves like an extra buffer until you kill whatever is DPSing you the most. I was thinking of replacing the rocket launcher for small NOS, but I'm worried about losing the extra DPS.
The damage output is about 87 DPS, so need to push my gunnery/rocket skills up a bit more.

Edited by: Zerres on 20/06/2007 01:11:54 Just an FYI...
With the REVII patch, The original setup
3x 150mm AC's 1x launcher
1x med extender 2x amplifier
3x SPR
Edit: I just counted it all up...with weapons upgrade 1 this setup will require 159.4 CPU. This is making me doubtful of wether this setup is even possible any more. It would be a shame if it isn't...is definitely the most fun feeling mission ship i've flown.
Is no longer a noob friendly setup. I will require i'm guessing at least electronics lvl 5 and possibly a few lvl's of weapon's upgrades. I'm at 137 max CPU @ electronics 2 and still need about 15-20 more CPU for it to all fit.

My Rifter setup still fits. But its a little different than the one you posted.
3x 150mm Autocannon II (Pretty sure I am using T2's) 1x Arbalest Rocket Launcher
1x AB II 1x Med Ext II 1x Shield Recharger II
3x SPR I (Still fit, but changed to SPR Beta's)
I would say its not -as- Noob friendly as it used to be, but still not very skill intensive to fit.

Same thing here.. couldnt fit the original setup either... had to shorten it to 1 amp, works pretty well anyways... I lack alot in CPU on my rifter to fit that, anyone got any tips on which skills is neccessary to be able to fit both amps?

I played with the setup a bit, and it seems to fit.
3 x 200mm Light 'Prototype' AC 1 x Named Rocket (the one that uses the least cpu)
1 x Med. Azeotropic shield extender (or any other named one) 2 x passive resist modules
3 x Shield Power Relay I
With electronics at 4, and weapon upgrades and power grid upgrades at 3 it seems to fit. Havent checked it yet, as the Med azeotropic extenders are quite expensive (700k+). I think that with some more skill training I should be able to use a named gyrostab instad of one of the SPRs, to increase Dps for a bit. |

An L2 Rifter that should be fairly rookie friendly:
AC125II x3, Malkuth RL Cold Gas AB, MSEII, Resist Amp or V-M15 Invuln Best/Affordable SPRx2, Gyro
If the CPU is too tight for you, downgrade the MSE to Regolith.
The Invuln is probably less efficient for most missions, harder to fit, and means you have to manage your cap. But it's a lot more fun than a pure passive fit, IMO.

any suggestions what i should put into my 3rd mid slot? i've got about.. 7 or so cpu left

I am definately goint to try this out.
When I got bored with lvl2s in the ruppy, I just refit her with autoguns and a tank. Its not hard, but you get more of the b24 flying though mad flak and the battles seem to go at a quicker pace and you have more stuff to checkup on like tank cap and drones. _______________________________________________ RuntimeError: ChainEvent is blocking by design, but you're block trapped. this is what i use except for t2 guns and a rocket launcher instead of missiles. use the best med extender you can and swap the resists for what you are facing, works a treat.
and if u are a tiny bit short on grid/cpu, check you are using the named modules that offer reductions in those things. i can usually squeeze most setups i want on by doin that.

Good info. :D
Shield compensation isn't needed if you're going for the passive tanks. Helps if you're using a booster.
Unfortunately, I no longer have a low skillpoint character to test fittings on, but here are some ideas....
Forget the Rocket Launcher - Honestly, the DPS increase is minimal at best. I only put it on there because I had the grid/cpu to toss it on. If I had to drop anything on this setup first, it'd be the launcher. Drop to 125mm Scouts - Their tracking is better, which means you'll hit fast targets better, but you'll lose a little DPS.
Besides that, I'm not sure. Staying purely passive, you really can't lose the Medium Extender or the Power Relays. That's where your whole tank is.
And again, I'd like to recommend that if you enjoy flying the Rifter, go for Assault Frigs/Interceptors! I still fly my Jaguar/Wolf/Stilleto daily, even though I've far outskilled them - they're just so much more fun to fly than the bigger ships. Also, they're ALWAYS useful in PVP - my Stiletto has an INSANELY low lock time, can lock/scramble anything coming off a gate before it can jump short of a pod/shuttle/some interceptors.
My Wolf are excellent damage platform, (popping inties with arty, anybody? :D) and the Jaguar is actually an efficient solo PVP'er if you prey on cruisers/frigs, and a viable damage platform/reasonable tackler. Example... I was solo pirating in my passively tanked Jaguar and was bored enough to let myself get caught in a trap, just to see how I'd do. Typhoon and a couple cruisers. I actually managed to take out one cruiser and take the other to 30% armor (armor tanked) before they got me. :D They just had such a hard time damaging me.

Alright, so I just took a look at a noob Minmatar char in EFT, and tried to fit a Rifter as the original post says.
It's doable, but it requires the following to fit:
Electronics IV Energy Grid Updates IV
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this fit should still be reasonable, unless EFT is vastly outdated, which it could well be.
