J'ai re+ºu un offre de traduction pour une compagnie de finance que je connait depuis 10 ans.
Il m'offre un pourcentage de vente comme affili+¬ et repr+¬sentant.
(M+¬me pour cette entr+¬ de forum, il a fallu que je copie les charact+¿res avec accent car mon clavier est trop d+¬ficient.
De 76 r+¬ponses, la seule avec un accent gr+óve est la derni+¿re, je ne vais pas y chercher un "+ó accent gr+óve".
J'ai utilis+¬ Type French accents without a French keyboard pour simplifier. Sans compt+¬ que 70% des mots sont soulign+¬ en rouge. )

Il faudrait que je r+¬+¬crive ma complainte confidentielle sur 60% des articles et conventions +á la division d'urgence contre la torture de l'ONU en fran+ºais.
Sa devrait avoir plus de muscle en 2 langues officielles. |

Gotta say, the French channel in game is dreadful. One good thing with English is that it draws an international crowd (especially in games that have euro severs) that's, erm, more educated than the average. |

Regarding history:
- By the time of the Battle of Hastings, the Kingdom of France ('Francia') was very much decentralized, a fraction of it only was under direct control of the King, the rest under (loose) vassalage. The south or Brtitany didn't speak the same language as the north (where the "langue d'oil" was spoken, essentially 'Old French'). The concept of 'French' identity for that period would have been at best terribly fuzzy. 'Normans' (only a fraction of who might have had 'Viking' ancestors) were not any less 'French' than any other 'French' people of the time. Besides England was invaded not just by Normans, William had gathered a large army from various corners of the Kingdom including Brittany and Flanders.
- Angles were a Germanic people, not Celtic, and they weren't there before the Romans...
- It makes no sense to me to declare the 'actual French people' c. 11th century, were the Gauls and Bretons. I assume the idea here is that the Celts were the 'original' inhabitants of the country, but then again they weren't. The history and pre-history of the world is one of migrations and cultural displacement. In the 11th century, the 'French' were people who lived within the boundaries of the kingdom, the culture was mostly Frankish and Latin, and Brittany was largely independent anyway. |

Also the reason I don't like the idea of adding more and more langauge sub-forums, give it to one guy and the next group will start asking for the same until there are a dozen forums and nobody talks with each other. |

One of the oldest mission players in EVE designed a chart that explains stat priority in regards to mission running, compared Alpha, DPS, Ship Speed and Sig Radius and scores them.

I'm back on EVE since 1 month now, and I've to admit stupid nationalism fully irrigate the french in-game channel...
There is a constant flow of agressive jokes and goodwin points.
Without drastic moderation, a french dedicated forum is maybe not such a good idea after all 
Don't want to be part of this community... I'm moving to another game.

Belgium isn't Netherlands, we speak french in Belgium too.

Yup, the in-game channel "Fran+ºais" is riddled by smartass - clearly a nest of trolls. Not respectful and insult easy. Don't go there if you want a serious exchange.
However, there is no just 200 french playing this game. As I said "Fran+ºais" is a nest, most of the french don't even go there. Most of us don't even care about that channel, as we know they're just assholes. However, you don't have to stop playing this game because you don't like a community. Just do as we do, and don't go there. Also, this game has the ability to enable wardec, if you don't like somebody, you can always throw a war at his corp/alliance. Do that instead of leaving :) |
