I'm sure the overview has been a daunting tool for new players for ages: potentially so useful, but, it looks like you could end up squished and confined by internal mechanisms you didn't understand 
There are many useful resources, such as Eve-uni, out there for sure, but they are certainly not obvious to newer players.
I reckon a re-vamp of the overview code, documentation and mostly UI overview setup tools could pay dividends for new character retention and their mental health. It is a key system ofter-all |

I don't think this is a new feature or idea Doc, because it's all just a discussion of existing UI elements and resouces. I just think the UI customisation options for the overview is newb-unfriendly and not very well-designed.. |

Yes, but your OP reads like a feature and/or and idea, therefore FuryBotGäó has decided that F&I is a more accurate fit than GD. Had you wanted to discuss the merits of the overview, or discuss how hard it is to use for a new player, then that would have been acceptable for GD.
Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings? |

I really don't see how this reads as a feature or idea. That would imply much more new material or concepts than this. This is just a heads-up to CCP that the overview is traditionally a scary aspect for new players, and could be low-hanging fruit for their new player experience improvement team.
But for clarification: Lines 1-2 point out that new players find the overview daunting. In particular, they are scared to edit it and screw stuff up (what's hitting me!)
Lines 3-4 explain that guides to editing the overview exist, but probably aren't that easy to find for newbies.
Lines 5-6 request a that the overview tools gets better code, a better user-interface for modifications and better documentation. Hopefully leading to to better newbie retention. |
