Allow me to reference Halo 4 online play as an example.
People were pretty pissed about that, because they were paying for a Halo game. What they got instead was Halo/Call of duty. If people wanted to play Call of Duty, they would have freakin played call of duty. There are numerous Call of Duty games to chose from and only one Halo.
But the Halo devs elected to "do what everyone else is doing" and what they put out there look like halo, but could not be more different then halo. Halo 4 online play was not only Call of Duty online, it had new mechanics in it that allowed you to basically just run away from a fight and escape death in a way that you could never do in the previous installments. This pissed off allot of fast twitch Halo ninja's that had been honing their super human reflexes for many years.
Eve has been doing this very same thing for a long time. Not only is it becoming more like other MMORPGs that many of us have no interest in playing, but we currently exist in a game that is "part this game" and "part that game" atm.
What do I mean by that? Well, take a good look at your ridiculous cloths. Half of the player base looks like they are about to walk out their front door and head out to the mall. This is not the wardrobe of mighty pod pilots that we once wore... These are the cloths that Vampires and Twilight tards would have been wearing in World of Darkness. The devs used eve to test it out, and ruined a prime component in EVE's universal lore in the process.
Incarna? Well gee wiz, I love walking in circles inside of a room all by myself as my computer lags to hell and back after... how many years now? I don't know, I am not sure how long the Jita protests and mass subscription cancels were. I have lost track.
So don't mistake our resentment for anger at the hull of a meh Kronos. We are still pissed about a great many things from years past.
