Edited by: oracore on 31/05/2006 03:09:35 A contribution to EVE's vitality:
A ton of people (especially in war) need to travel across danger everyday, they also require FAST transportation. My idea is to have the NPC corp InterBus offer bus services at most selected stations/systems (including selected low sec regions).
This service will come with a variable price which depends on your standing towards InterBus, concord and your current political status (more expensive if you are in war, ex: 1mil/jump). This service will run once every hour (or whichever is more fair for server load and eco-system stability) to selected destinations with stops, schedules are posted in stations(stops) with such service.
Note: A great way to get ppl to low sec CCP :D and if used very often, it reduces lag as less ship in space.
This bus class ship will operate on jump drives and it is escorted by concord, meaning pirates cant touch the passengers even in low sec. There will be passenger limit, for example 10, when full, a player must wait for the next one in schedule. Last call to get onboard is 5 minutes before departure :D The bus if seen in space will have travel info in its info so other players can tell where its going, when it will arrive there and who is onboard. The bus undocks and travels 15km before jumping, and arrives at 15km away from destination station and docks. Finally carebears can wittness the orgasmic scenery of a jump drive in Empire, a great scenery addition to dull/clone-like eve space ;p
[Optional] Each passenger is allowed 10-50m3 space for personal belongings. (can be governed by ticket price)
[Optional] Tickets can be sold by players, an item that can be added to the trade pool. Or rewarded by agents.
[Optional] Open Agents of InterBus to give players the chance to operate their Bus as a bus driver for missions :D Of course to avoid complications, the mission will have passengers who are not real players in pods. Edited by: Reggie Stoneloader on 31/05/2006 06:31:29 That sounds pretty neat. I'm trying to think of exploits or counter points, but I'm drawing a blank. I'm in favor.
It would be like the poor man's jump clone. It could be run with a system similar to renting production or research slots, so you could see how many openings are left. A cheap "Just a Pod" ticket could help people move ships without using twenty shuttles or a freighter.
Brilliant.

I'd really prefer to see a Region to Region long range jump gate system set up in the capital system of each region. It'd cost you to use the gate, based on ship size and distance, but it'd be instant travel accross the bad zones.
This would seriously cut down on the long range travel and pirate griefing. The pirates would still have local traffic to play with so they shouldnt be too put out.

Ok, so introduce a way of beating gate camps, getting far away from war targets and making travel around the game completely safe... I really dont see how thats a good idea.

Beating gate camps at the cost of a million/jump? I'd rather chance it with a small fast ship if that's all I'd be using the bus for.
Getting far away from war targets when they can bring up info so easily and see who is on board and where it stops as well as where each passenger is bound for. Do you hide from the police by using a plane ticket in your own name that gives all this information?
Making travel safe? With only 50m3 luggage at most, I can't see how this is going to affect anything. If someone only had that amount of cargo, it wouldn't be worth pirates time anyway. Chances are the only people who would use it are those going to pick up new ships. Therefore it's a new target for the gate campers to look forward to when they come back.
Look at it from the other point of view. Another one of the reasons for noobs not joining alliances is the lack of BM's. Without them, you are just an easy target all the way to your alliance territory. The Interbus allows noobs to go to the alliance without that problem. Now doesn't that sound better, loads of noobs coming in to your local area for you to shoot at?

i kinda like this idea, having a transport service that reduces the time needed to travel long distances. if i have to make 30 jumps with an industrial ship loaded with my mining cruiser without bookmarks, that would be horrible. i wouldnt mind having to make that trip once, and taking a 'bus' to a system close by.
another thing that could help would be taking a big bus to a hub (random station in a system) and taking smaller, faster, buses wich lack a jump drive to take you 1,2, or 3 more systems to your destination.

I like this more than actually being able to travel myself in InterBus.

Edited by: nut gatherer on 04/06/2006 19:56:06 annoyance found. I'm allowed 50m3 of gear? hmmm. well I think I will go ahead and pack up ALL my BPO's, and tranport them from one side of empire to the other where I can easily manufacture them without have to deal with those nasty ebil pirates.
YAY to the bus.

Edited by: Ganiaxxir Anferdanni on 05/06/2006 08:42:07 how about perhaps an alternative fed-ex type of service in addition where you can ship items from one place to another for a set price..
Hmmm with Kali coming out and the new escrow and contract stuff maybe that will be affected..
Good idea though..
Oops.. saw the cargo thing after I entered my reply..
