Hi,
I have experienced something, ever since the last patch was deployed. Quite often when I jump into a system my ship automatically warps of to a location around 999,988km away from the gate I used to arrive into the system.
I know for sure that I haven't had the autopilot set. It doesn't happen everytime but quite often. Anyone know what this is all about? --- Author of A guide to buying bookmarks |

Hehe, true but then again if I were to use any instas they'd not put me on the spot and that could be an even worse problem in the wrong place --- Author of A guide to buying bookmarks |

I had this the other day... major lag whilst jumping, then screen refreshed and I was coming out of warp 1mil km away from the gate i just jumped through.
what I think is happening is a short disconnection where the server does its "char's disco'd... warp away" trick, but the period of disconnection/non-communication is so short that the client is able to re-establish its link more or less straight away.
thats my theory anyway. Vicarrah Tahiri |

Edited by: Amaril on 31/05/2006 08:02:35 I know this little "feature" as an emergency warp. From what I understand, it's meant to warp you away from the gate you are inbound to in order to prevent you from crashing due to excessive lag (or possibly due to the fact that the client/server believes you will crash?)
Best way to avoid this is to turn off sound/effects if moving with a large group of ships, and to stagger jumping of large groups of ships through gates while traveling. For example, have Caldari/Gallente jump first, followed by Minmatar/Amaar. However if this is happening to you solo flying, then you might want ot consider moving to a less populated area of space. ;) --------- Want to purchase a T2 Ice Mining Barge, the Mackinaw? Yeah I've been getting some nasty lag, since the patch, while jumping between systems. It's not been while flying in large groups (everytime I've been flying solo) in empire (verge vendor) so it's not been overcrowded either. --- Author of A guide to buying bookmarks |

I've done it a couple of times, not recently though. It's just unusually long jump lag - enough for the emergency warp, but not enough for your client to disconnect from the server.

We then we can chalk this up as "emergency warp due to unusually long lag". Now the questions is "why did the start to happen, all of a sudden, after the patch and even in low populated empire regions"? Could it help to clear the cache perhaps? (at work now and can't try which leaves speculation for me) --- Author of A guide to buying bookmarks |

frantically hit ctrl+space from the moment you initiate the jump this will stop your ship from warping off about half of the time
this feature has been around for as long as i can remember, and usually only happens when i'm flying with a large fleet (it's due to lag obviously)

Was more prevalent in empire though. As I say, odd, as my main account a few jumps away was fine.

This often happens when you encounter loads of packet loss.
Check your cables, and unplug your modem/router for 10-15 minutes for a full reset. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. They got Ray |

Yeah we tend to get this often, even before the patch. We just call it lag warping, you can prevent it by spamming ctrl + spacebar when you jump in laggy conditions.
