I read that kali will expand on the idea of exploration. How about having random warm holes apearing in space as part of the space weather. Each warm hole opens for 5 mins anywhere in the system and links randomly to another system or dead space. The frequency can be adjusted to CCP's liking and statistic fairness. People will have to use scanner to spot them and with a bit of luck. But to analyze them one would need the skill "Warmhole mechanics" to find out where it leads to. Else one would have to jump blindly and hope its not in low sec full of pirates or 30 jumps away  
This is something easy to make, we can use the already established jump drive model.

i think you mean "wormhole"
a warm hole is something else entirely :)
BUt a decent idea nonetheless.

They are allready doing similar things, but not wormholes exactly...

Not a bad idea, although I doubt many would just jump blindly unless they were already trapped in a system (nothing to lose), or they were just plain suicidal. Analysis would have to be quite an easy task and it would need to be done very fast if the wormhole was only open for a short time.
I'd like to see a few stable ones dotted about. Anyone who knows of them won't want to reveal their location as it could be their own gateway to another system way across the map into a secret cache of good minerals in a unused system. It might just be a doorway into 0.0 from Empire and back or maybe just a one way door that they can use in an emergency.
Maybe even a gateway into a 3 system 0.0 area that has absolutely no other access except the wormhole and jump drives and isn't even on the map. That could be really interesting for Mercs to have a HQ there, they come from nowhere and vanish into nowhere and would provide a lot of fun trying to find their HQ. This would enable CCP to effectively expand the map for small starter corps to take over small areas without trying to find new places to put new systems that will end up even further out from Empire. There would be so many possibilities for stable ones that they can't be overlooked.
