Try this and tell me what happens: Lower your RAM speed a notch (in the BIOS) and see if that stops the crashes.

I had an excessive amount of issue caused on my pc due to having installed the AI booster. It was not until I re-installed windows that my problems vanished. I still blame many of the issues on AI booster as they re-appeared when i re-installed it later (that required a reinstall to fix, uninstalling was not sufficient).
I hope there are other ways to fix it cause reinstalling is not fun.

I have the same issues with unwanted crash to desktop as i leave a station or use a jump gate. System spec is fairly similar:-
AMD 4800 x2 2 x 7800 GTX in SLI (disabling one card and running in single mode didnt change anything) 2 GB Ram Asus A8N SLI 32 Main Board
Everything is running at default speeds, no overclocking anywhere...
The most annoying thing is that it seems to happen more frequently when i am away from my keyboard waiting for 4 or 5 jump trips in safe space to complete. Come back and its just the desktop staring back at me :(

Take a deep breath, read slowly and digest all that you read. One or other of the suggestions in this thread will cure your problem methinks, I've now been running crashfree for months.
I wish the moderators would sticky some of these answers or at least make another directory related to crashes to desktop, the threads seems to die and re-occur weekly due to new people, would make sense to put em all in same folder somewheres.

Edited by: Nasty Bastard on 14/06/2006 18:31:01 I've had the same problem too, mostly when warping, docking or undocking. Sometimes it happens in a station when I'm sitting checking through the items or something non system intensive. I am now on my third set of drivers, when I first install them things run well and then just as I think I've sorted it, Presto! The dreaded CTD or reboot returns. I've reinstalled XP, reconfigured everything configurable but to no avail. As an I.T engineer I feel I've exhausted all options, up to and including long discussions and demands on my ISP. I think the ball is in CCP's court, and for me its the only flaw this excellent game has. Pity.

Had the same thing random crashing to desktop every time i play the game now.
Got the sound turned off, tryed all new drivers and even old ones to see if that makes it more stable.
Installed net.framework 2.0 (Ment to help with the memory leak), latest chipset drivers. Hell even taken the video card out and put it back in to make sure it's seated right.
AMD Xp 2.6 1 Gig ram Nvidia GeForce 5900 128mb (84.21ver)

Same problem here. CTD every 5 minutes sometimes.
I've filed a bugreport attaching a logserver file, dump file and my dxdiag file. I suggest everybody to do the same so CCP can locate and fix this problem.

I had the same issue a few times in a row, but only after my PC was on for like 48 hours straight during several very HOT days. The added heat of the GPU that EVE uses, just killed something inside.
I left EVE for what it was, kept the PC off for the last HOT day, and had no problem when I came home and played EVE. My intuition turned out to be right, the GFX card must simply have made an emergency stop due to rampant heat buildup and closed the utilising game (EVE in this case).
Can't tell if its the same for you, but my card was a NVida GForce 6800 GT. If you keep having this problem, check the temperature of your video card (by using the tools that come with the NVida driver package. You can specify to throttle down the GPU if heat builds up as well.
Hope this information gets you on the right track!

Well, i have the same problem of crashing, but not to desktop, but the machine restarts and i have to get back to windows.
Another friend of mine had the same problem and his solution was removing 1 Gb of his 2 Gb memory, too bad it did not work for me as it keeps crashing.
One thing i have noticed in common to all that suffer from these is that all are Athlon (2600+ and higher)dual core processors, so it must be something about Eve not handling very well those Athlons, and i think it would be wise for CCP devs to see into this problem as soon as possible. And if they are already onto it, well, please keep us informed about progress and patches to be (hopefully) deployed soon to solve this problem. Someone posted above a link with possible solutions to the problem, i have yet to read it, but i most surely will, and see if any of those solves it and i can play this excellent game.

Hi all,
I HAD been crashing to desktop daily for over two months.
I have now been playing CRASH FREE for 2 weeks. The Crash to Desktop was fixed by one or some combination of the following. I will be turning back these ôfixesö one at a time to find the real culprit once I stop having too much fun playing eve :-]
1) Anti Virus and Anti Spyware background operations were turned off. 2) Audigy 2Æs Firewire and game port were disabled. 3) Play EVE with no sound. 4) Dual core affinity set to one processor = CPU 0. 5) Play in window mode, NOT full screen.
Hope it works for you û good luck and fly safe.
