A few days back I read a post from a dev about how things get reported as bugs. And he was correct in stating that bug reports need to be filed. As a software engineer field reporting of issues needs to be properly reported and tracked. CCP has the unique situation of being in a very high visibility position where certain bugs or perceived defects can drastically alter their business. I've done my part with my various accounts to detail bugs and I'd like to ask for something back.
Please give us some way of tracking where in the proccess the bug report is. I've done my part reporting the bug, but there is no response mechanism. I have the feeling some players like myself see the bug reporting system as a black box, not knowing where defect stands, it's priority, what's happening with it etc.
All I am asking for is someway for us to interactively track what is going on with the issues that matter to us the most.

Edited by: Lebowske on 31/05/2006 17:16:47 Yes please. A simple table in the menu with the bugreport page. All we need is the titles - and if the titles of the bug is giving away too much (exploits and such) then just censor/filter them.
Title Issued Status Amarr outpost cannot build carriers 22/5/2006 Confirmed Exploit, market **** ******* ******** 23/5/2006 Investigating BoB sploit!!!111!1eleven! 20/5/2006 Rejected Localchat bugged, ppl invisible 11/4/2006 Unconfirmed
etc etc

We as players have no need nor right to access of information like that. Having to go through the extra steps of making a community viewable version of bug fixes is Kieron's job and he does a find job of it with patch notes. We don't need any more information than that.
While we might want it, asking developers to add extra steps to their process to appease impatient and needy players will help no one. Since even if they did this type of system it would still **** of people who's Bug of the Month wasn't fixed NOW NOW NOW or why something listed as fix isn't fixed on TQ due to roll out schedules.
So, no. Bad idea in my opinion. The Known Issues page is where you can track what is going on with the issues that matter to you the most. If your issue isn't listed there, bug report it. That's the end of your involvement as a player. -- Lil Miner |

Kylania,
The only problem with this is that we as players have no idea if the bug was submitted. Or if the Devs need more information to help duplicate and resolve the issues. While some people may write very good bug reports others may not. We have no idea if the devs need more information, if there are any solutions, or even if our bug was completely submitted and understood.
