In order to stem the excessive losses at Pend Insurance [and remove a source of excess isk in the game], I proposre the following revisions to the insurance pricing system:
1. Experience Rating. Add a surcharge [5%?] to the insurance quote on each ship for every loss payout within the past 30 days. This will raise insurance costs to those players/corps who lose their ships most frequently and thus reduce the losses at Pend.
2. Volume Discounts. All real life insurance companies lower prices for customers who insure multiple vehicles or properties. I thus suggest a discount [same percentage - 5%?] for every ship a player/corp currently has insured, with a maximum of the number of losses incurred within the past 30 days.
** Under this scheme, as long as your losses in the past month are fewer than your insured ships, your premium will not change.
However, if you begin losing a lot of ships for some reason [a war?] your premiums will begin to rise and you'll start to make some different choices about how hard to fight and what to fight in.
These changed choices will reduce Pend's net losses and thus reduce the total amount of isk in the game. It will also tend to encourage warring parties to settle their issues somewhat sooner than annihilation.
Which is as it should be.
Thanks for listening and pls add your ideas below.

Not so sure about that... what i really want is to be able to insure tec2... but thats not gonna happen..
Insurance is fine as it is imo. doesnt really hurt anyone, nor is it broken.

Yeah, I think it's fine as is. If anything, I'd like to see the premium influenced by security status, but even that is unnecessary.

The only change I want to the insurance process is this: when insurance one of my ships expires and I get that email, state which ship it was!

Ooh, yeah, that's a good one. Nothing like having to root through your mail log to match dates and then figure out which ship it was.
