Try using a download manager to download it instead of a normal browser. Perhaps the download gets interrupted or something else that corrupts it?

I just downloaded the full build and it installs fine without any errors. As said above, try downloading it with a download manager.

A large download will corrupt sometimes if your ISP is known for stalling downloads. If there is a short pause at times before it resumes this will cause corruption problems. Hence download managers actually do a much better job of keeping your file from getting corrupted.

i tried installing from the full build and had no errors at all. so yea, try a download manager and see if that resolves it.

Is the download corrupt, or does it complete and only encounter corruption midway through the extraction stage?
I was initially unable to install due to not having enough space in my temporary directory despite having plenty in the destination drive. The install halted partway through unpacking and reported corruption - but the real problem was that Eve requires 1.5Gb free in both your temp folder and the destination folder if they happen to be different drives.

When I signed up last month had the stalling issue with the client download. Got a free download manager, download and installed EVE without issues. Used wget windows gui. See link below.

Downloaded and installed on a Windows XP reformat. No problems with download and installation w/out a download manager.

Similar problems... When I worked at an I-CafT we had similar problems with patch downloading. I even tried downloading to another comp burned to disk/ tried with flashmemory/store to server first. Same problem "The file is corrupt",but on any other computer it worked. So Its not really the download that is the problem, it might be either a deep rooted OS issue that causes the corruption or a driver issue.. Fastest way to resolve it is to try and reinstall your os clean and download and install EVE. If that doesnt help you might want to do a check up on your HDD .. might have damaged sectors.
Hope it helps you with the problem. And I DONT PROMISE it will work but as Ive seen similar problems I tought id share the info.
Cheers and GL

I have found the problem most off you are struggling with. It handles about the error that during the installation process it can't write to some file and aborts.
If this is the case, you are probably low on disk space on the drive where Windows XP and its temporary folder are installed, normally C:\windows\temp.
This is odd, because it does also happens if you have the EVE install file located at for instance drive D:\ with let's say 20GB free, and you wish to install it to for instance the E:\drive with also 20GB free. The Nullsoft installer EVE uses will in any way unpack its files from drive D:\ to the temporary folder on C:\ and only after that copy them to drive E:\. So you see the problem? If drive C:\ is low on space then the install will fail because it has ran out of space on the C:\ drive.
The solution is to free more space on your C:\ drive, the amount being around 1.3GB. If you can make more free, then that would be better because a lot of other programs also use the temp folder on the C:\drive. So to be sure make 2GB of space free. If this is not possible then you should consider moving the windows temporary folder. To describe this is off course out of the scope of this post, so you will have to find that out yourself.
Nicer would be if the Dev's add a check to the installer to measure the level of free space on the drive with your temporary folder. For the Dev's to gain extra points: Circumvent the whole temporary folder and extract the files directly to the target drive. Would save me alot of install time.
If you are still having problems you should check the MD5 checksum of your download. Instructions for this can be found here:http://www.evepedia.de/index.php/Download The site is in German, so either widen your scope by becoming multi-lingual or find another website yourself .
If the chechsum is the same I would start suspecting some hardware in your computer, especially the HD and RAM. If the checksum is not the same you simply have a corrupt download.
Hope this helps!

It's possible that your ram is corrupt as well. I had the same problem a long time ago where my value ram (eww) got corrupted, and caused all sorts of strange problems such as this. To check your ram use memtest -------------------

Hmm.... CCP should add an MD5 hash (and guide on how to use it) so users can verify the integrity of the file after downloading; I've not noticed one on the site. It would be pretty useful.

I had that problem - some strange installer errors. You redownload and you have the same error, right? Well, guess what - the drive where you have your system temp set is full :P Or it gets full when you run installer and it decompress stuff into temp directory. BTW, Devs, correct error message would be helpfull - I started playing eve like 6 months later than I intended because I didn't realize what's the problem with installer :)
