One of the things that annoys me extremely in the game is that the leadership bonuses do not apply equally but actually favor the armor tankers. When you join a gang and you have leadership skills at all 4s then the extra armor charges up instantly but the shield has to recharge by iteself. Every time you jump, the shield has to recharge.
Essentially this means that shield tankers are instantly missing 8% of their shield HPs the moment they jump. Since there is no way to charge it before breaking cloak (you cant turn on a booster or wait long enough) the shield tankers start out a gate fight 8% in the hole. This is hardly fair.
The shield HPs should charge the moment the player gets in the gang and should not have to recharge every time you jump. After all, its not like someone can leave and join a gang fast enough to serve as a shield or armor booster (and if that WERE the case then armor tankers could already do it)
Level the playing field please and remove the recharg time on shield bonuses.

I presume the armor bonus is instant because otherwise anyone without an armor rep would have a permanent hole in their armor, making the bonus pointless. ------------

Not more pointless than it currently is for shield tanks. The "permanent hole" is permanent for about as long as it takes to start an armor repairer - the equivalent of which a shield tank has to use to make use of the gang bonus to shields.

ôOne of the things that annoys me extremely in the game is that the leadership bonuses do not apply equally but actually favor the armor tankers.ö ItÆs the other way around the bonus favours the shield tankers. Amour tankers just get 10% amour hitpoints while shield tankers get 10% shield hitpoints and extra HP/sec regen.

Which doesn't matter in the situation stated by Rells - ie just jumped into a gate camp.
While not too much of a hassle for an active shield tanker, a passive tanker is already starting 8% hp down. For example, on a passively tanked ferox with 13k shields, you're just a touch over 1000 hp down already.

For the most part its not total hitpoints that matter its HP regen. Your tradeing totel Hitpoint loss for HP regen.
The amour and shield bonusÆs should not work the same. Though I do agree itÆs a little odd jumping makes your shields drop by 10%. I donÆt think shields should suddenly jump up 10% when you join a gang. For me it would be best shields where 10% from max when you joined a gang but gateing had no effect.

Its because gang bonuses apply only to people in the same system and that fluxuates when jumping. But as the other poster said the example of a tanked Ferrox is a perfect one. You have already started in the hole 10% so its as if the enemy has several free hits on you already.
And as for passive regen, that means near nothing in PvP.

ôAnd as for passive regen, that means near nothing in PvP.ô That has to be a joke? My ship with no shield modules fitted gets 11HP/s from passive regen. Fit a few PDS for cap to power that large shield booster and that passive regen shoots up. Adding 20 to 30hp/s passive regen on top of an active shield tank can be the difference between life and death. Most people only think passive regen is useless as they dont understand it.

Edited by: Sonorra Baki on 02/06/2006 13:55:26 Correct me if im wrong, But even with a "dent" in the shield because of the 10% bonus, the real benefit of the regen doesnt occur before the 30-35% mark.
With 10% increase from 1000, at 1100 hp, the passive max regen would occur at lets say 366hp, with a larger rate instead of occuring at the 333hp mark
So benefit remains

Fine, unless you are ddriving a BS or larger passive regen means little to nothing. In a frigate it means absolutely nothing. At the same time you are already down hitpoints when the fight starts which is rubbish.

armor+shield tanking are different. i see your point, but complaining that they arent equal seems silly.

shield tankers also get their boost first rather than at the end of the cycle. Your point? THEIR DIFFERENT like projectiles and lasers.
