Anyone have any opionions on what cap recharge rate is optimal for using large lasers. Thinking mainly of using 4-5 megabeams rather than Tachyons as the cap drain on these beasts is too much imo. Any ideas? obviously incresing cap recharge rate comes at expense of damage mods, tracking mods and medium slots. Any thoughts on a ball-park figure should be aiming for with modules and skill training to effectively use large lasers.P.S. Thinking of both npcs and PVP

Controlled Bursts 4 and 2 cap rechargers wont even be enough on a battleship to keep up with the cap usuage for 4 megabeams.
Megabeams suck in my opinion and tachyons suck even worse.
Just my 2 isk though |

What for example then, would be a *reasonably* efficient set-up on an Armageddon?
After all, if one has to dedicate every single spare slot to a cap recharger...
Looking for any advice here. I can't afford to muck up my ship. Centauri,

Quite unfortunately, Lasers suck bigtime.....
Even on cruisers its hard to keep up with capusage, if you dont dedicate some low slots to cap regen. power cap relays help alot. No need for shield recharge on amarr ships.
With the damage mods, its only harder to keep up with capusage, the ROF bonus is a damocles sword.......

In a Megathron, with Controlled Bursts 4:
I've been running 3, 10% rechargers in mid slots, and 5, 25%->20% shield to cap modules.
That will keep 1 Tach and 3 Megas firing constantly. It's a bit much actually. I'll be going with one less low charger and one more heat sink next outfit.

If you are flying armageddon, I hope your amarr bs skill is not too high, the higher, the worse for you cap management :p anyway, any large laser user should have cap mgt/opt 4, controlled bursts 4, amarr bs 4 and flying an apoc, even this is not enough if you are a tachyon fan, however, 2 siege luncher, 2 tachyon, 4 dual heavy beam/pulse are good setup in my opinion :)

ESO (Energy Systems Operation) level 5 + Energy Management level 4 + A ****load of cap power relay's (low) + Maybe some Cap Chargers 1's (med) or med cap boosters + A good shieldbooster because of the cap power relay's :) -------

Don't power diagnostic modules help cap recharge?

I suse 5 tachyons on an apoc with 4 10% cap rechargers in med slots and 4 power diag 1 and 3 extruded heatsinks, I can keep firering for ever with that setup.

Well, you can keep firing until a blackbird uses an mwd to get close to you and jams you.
