**waving "New Player" flag**
So, I just started playing EVE about two weeks ago so I know very little about the game. I'm primarily doing some mining at the moment but I'm looking to do some more exploring.
I'm looking for a nice, fast/agile ship that I can safely take to low- and null-sec. I have seen videos of the cloak+MWD trick and would like to do this if it means a safer journey through these systems. I'd like to be able to go to various systems and not be podded after 2 minutes If it could carry some useful stuff like probes, that would be a bonus but survivability is my main issue here.
Please recommend a ship that a new pilot can fly safely. I've seen discussions here where the ships and fittings recommended are all T2 and the skills are assumed to be level 5. I'm about 20 years (+/- 2 weeks) away from that level so if someone can recommend something I can pilot in 20 minutes, that'll be awesome.
Thanks! |

Hello, Two ships to consider-(you already own these if you did the career tutorials)
1-racial exploration frigate. equip with mwd, probe launcher, etc. 2- racial baby interceptor. equip with mwd.
practice the cloak-mwd trick in high, get the timimg down, head to danger world.
these ships are cheap, easy to skill, and will serve you well as you flit about making safespots for your later endeavors. |

Welcome to EVE where the men are men, the women are men and the kids are suicide ganker alts.
- The Venture is a very good ship for mining in low sec. The pilot of the Nozy Gamer blog, http://nosygamer.blogspot.com has practically made it a lifestyle to mine in low sec. - For exploration any probing frigate will do. Practive the cloak+mwd trick a couple of times in high sec and you'll be able to escape all but the most dedicated of ganks. - For moving about on the cheap, any fast frigate (atron, slasher, condor, executioner) fitted with a nanofiber in the low, a cloak in the high and an MWD will be hard to catch by 90% of the stuff flying out there. - No matter how safe you fit and fly, one day you will get attacked and podded. Don't fly what you can't afford to lose. - Focus your skills on getting level 2 in all relevant skills and level 4 in all 'important' skills. Within 2 weeks you'll be >80% capable in your chosen role. - Learn to use the ingame map (solar system and star map) and websites like dotlan and zkillboard. Intel is your greatest ally in not getting podded. - In that vain, don't enter null sec by the most obvious route, try a far out of the way system to avoid the expected gate camps. - Once you money and skills, T2 versions of the above mentioned ships (covert ops, prospect and interceptors) are even better in avoiding enemy ships. - If you're on the ball, you shouldn't lose your pod in low sec ever, except for lag and very specialized gate camps (avoid Rancer) |

Thanks for the replies!
Vogon, I do not know which one is the "racial whatever".... I am a Caldari pilot. I figure the Heron is the "racial exploration frigate" since it has bonuses to combat scanner probe strength, but what is my "racial baby interceptor"??
Lunkwill, I LOL'ed at the first line of your reply. That's good enough for a sig! Thanks for naming the Condor... again, I'm new to EVE so having a specific name to look up is a very, VERY big help!
Any chance you can tell me what the "relevant skills" and "important skills" are? I'm training a bit with an eye on the skills listed on this page: http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Core_Skills
Is there anything else I should want to train? |

Relevant skill is basically every skill that affects your ship somehow. Important skills are skills that affect your ship a lot.
Which skills to train for a Condor? Press 'Get info' on a ship and click on the mastery tab. For the Condor, you'll see stuff like 'Caldari target management', 'Core ship operation' and many others. Under each of those are skill lists with recommended skill levels.
For your Condor, set mastery II as your short term goal and mastery IV as your long term goal. These skills will get you started.
There's a list in game with all the ships, called ISIS. It shows you how well skilled you are for certain ships and how the various ships relate to each other. You'll notice that e.g. that the 'Caldari target management' set of skills apply to all Caldari ships. This will give you an idea what skills are usable for other ships and allows you to plan.

For caldari stealthy shenanigans you'll want to aim for the Buzzard. Not a combat ship at all, but a very good explorer. If you like any of the older ship models (original artwork) better than the redesign of your favorite hull and don't want them to be lost forever, support ship customization and this feature request. |

The longer I can go without dying, the more fun I have. My goal isn't to die often but to die LESS OFTEN. Dying often and getting used to it is PvP area, I think. I'd like to avoid getting pew-pew'ed and make my way around space with minimal hassle or intrusion.
Hasril, the Buzzard is just a Level 2 version of the Heron, so I will go for the Heron for now and train up to use the Buzzard. |

The ship you are looking for hasn't been introduced yet or better you may need to wait a little longer then a week to get it.
It is called the Prospect.

There is now a delay between de-cloaking from a gate jump then re-cloaking. Abuse of 'Frag-Warping' which you have seen on videos is what caused this.
For exploration The Heron -> Buzzard is good way to go. Once you get past losec/nullsec choke points and gate camps your life becomes much easier.
There is one thing i recommend to all new players though: Get a combat frigate. Get the skills to fit it and fly it and that way you wont be bored. There are tons of corps who will take new pilots and do lots of cheap frigate roams.
I'd also say Assault Frigates have a really good skill-path for new players. They take weeks to train for, but the skill you train are excellent and will stand you in good stead for a long Eve career. |

You should note that Noizy exclusively mines in a Procurer, not a Venture. |
