Geez, I was about to subscribe to the game and pay and I see it's 19.95 a month. Is that correct or did I misread something? Other games are $9.99-$14.99. This seems steep.

19.95 is buying the actual game, with 30 free days.
It's 14.95 per month, after that. _______

And if you are lucky and live in certain countries, the exchange rates are quite favorable at times :)

The initial $20 is like "purchasing" the game. Since EVE isn't sold in stores anymore, the $20 recoups the client download plus your first month. After that, $15 per month or less with longer payment plans. -------------- What good are actions if there's no one to tell the tale afterward?

Another nice thing about this game is you can (legitimately) use in game money to pay for your subscription using game time cards (100mil isk or so for 30 days). In most other MMOGS you'd have to risk getting banned since you'd have to convert currency to cash to buy a GTC.

The other option to save money is to get the game from a bargain bin and use the CD key to get your 30 days... I got my copy of EVE last week from Ebay for UKú2.99 (US$5). You don't need to install the CD if you've already downloaded the software, just setup a new account online using the CD key and use that as your EVE login...
The only downside of this is that (unless you have a word with the nice people at CCP) you would lose your trial character and start again from scratch. I wasn't too bothered about that as I wanted to start again with a stronger character, plus I sussed out how to transfer money and goods from the old character to the new.

Hm...
Let me get this straight.
I downloaded the game. Played Trial for 14 days.
If I buy a gamecard that is worth for 30 days, can I use it to make my account "official" or do I need to subscribe some other way?

Activating one's account costs 40 days of gametime, and gives you a free 30 days with it.

The shop where I can buy gamecard only has two types of gamecards.
One that says it lasts 30 days and costs 119 kn (16 Ç) and other that lasts 90 days and costs 300 kn (41 Ç) I talked to some Croatian players and they said that it worked that way.Download game, buy a gamecard enter number and play. You sure. Must be a bug with the system then, because when you use a longer card it uses 40 days' worth... hey I'm not complaining

I started with 14 days trial, then used a 50 days gtc at the last day of my trial period (or maybe even after it didn't let me login anymore) and got the full time (+50days) to go on. -------------------------------------- Agent & Mission-Info: http://www.eveinfo.com |
