'sup, new guy.
I just picked up the Firefly set a few days ago. Looking forward to finally seeing it, this weekend.

I too own the Firefly DVD set, and the movie Serenity, and love both of them (though the movie was a little off for characters).
That said, you will find EVE a completly different experience from the Firefly Universe. If you love all scifi, you are set. If you are playing just because of Firefly, try to keep an open mind about the game and enjoy it for what it is :)
Welcome aboard!

Edited by: Nequada Lee on 03/06/2006 06:29:47 hehe yea i sorta know that eve isn't like firefly but there are elements of it that they both share which will do enough for me hehe..although i started to play during my exam periods and i will be away travelling etc for the next 2 months >_<
however my friend is helping me do the learning skills so that when i can start -really- playing in august it will be a bit of a boost to me.
i watched serenity as well, after watching firefly i had this weird dissappointed feeling that they would actually even think of cancelling this show.
i am a big sg1 / atlantis / b. galactica fan and i didn't think much of firefly.. then my friend forced me to watch it..she was like "you really need to watch firefly!!!!"
and she was right..in fact its pretty much the best sci fi tv show in my mind.

Keep in mind that sharing accounts or just logging in on others accounts to change skills or something, is against the EULA and can get you banned...

Also keep in mind that its a commenly used practice, and the GM's can't tell whose logging in, just don't brag about it

Meh... Firefly was good, Bebop was better.
Same concept, 6 years in between.

I mean, they just had completely different plots and very different characters and all...
The story of a rag-tag band of good-hearted ne'er-do-wells is ancient. As much as I adore Watanabe, Bebop can't really take credit for inventing it. Both shows were just different, and excellent versions of the same archetype. - - -

Correction:
The story of a rag-tag band of good-hearted ne'er-do-wells in space, in a rickety old spaceship, with characters who get their pasts explained through the course of many episodes, and whose pasts come back to haunt them later in the series. They visit different planets, and encounter friends, enemies, and those just caught in the crossfire.
Seems a *bit* more similar than you'd think

Oh, and DS, I love Bebop as well, but not fair comparing them. Firefly got a grant total of 14 episodes. I'd say Bebop has an unfair advantage in that department.
Yeah

Browncoat here. Just got to see the "Done the Impossible" documentary at Starfest in Denver recently. That is well worth the watch! (Should be out on DVD by now, or very shortly.)

Clickie
It created anime fandom outside of Japan.
Unfortunately it was so good that all the newfound anime fans were disappointed when hardly anything else was remotely close.
Its like getting yourself introduced to the movie world by seeing Citizen Kane, The Empire Strikes Back, the Godfather, Casablanca, and Pulp Fiction, and then going to Blockbuster and renting Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle.

I honestly found Serenity to be a tragedy of a movie. Never understood why people like it.
Joss Whedon (spelling right?) really should stick to writing kids TV shows.

ORly?
My bad, I'm sure I read/heard somewhere that it was a series of the film.
The film still sucked

The film did not "suck" any more than "The Return of the Jedi" sucked.
It could have been better, just as the Return of the Jedi was not as good as either of the previous films. But it was definitely "good."
The series however was considerably better.

No, in my opinion it sucked. Seemed like a childish adventure to me. Still, to each their own.

I started playing EVE after having had honey cornflakes with milk. Or did I go and take a dump first before booting up EVE?
