I've had this issue once before, and if I remember right, it went unresolved and made me mad enough to quit playing for over a year. I've come back for about a year now, and the problem has come back, yet again.
My eve clients constantly, without fail, close every 3-5 minutes of play. It happens when I'm idle or not, it happens if I have 1 or 2 or even 5 clients open at once. If I were to actually attempt to play with all my accounts at once (which I do from time to time) I would be spending more time logging my characters back in repeatedly then I would be actually playing the game. With only 2 account on at once, I spent over 10 minutes logging them back in and waiting for them to stop auto warping. I would petition ccp for help, but in every experience I've had with their "support" they have been utterly useless.
There is absolutely no problem with my connection or router. I can play any other MMO with little to no interruption or lag. I've cleared all the chat logs, market logs, etc. I've defragged, updated, and done everything else I can possibly think of.
Has anyone else had this problem and found a fix or workaround? |

So I take it that CCP doesn't care if I let all of the accounts I use lapse and become inactive... I will not pay for a game that I can not play. I will not pay for a game in which support is a complete joke... |

Okay now... seriously... I'm getting pretty pissed off... I tried to do a lvl 1 mission and I can't even kill all the rats before I DC... Then I log back on to get my drones that I left behind... I slow boat up to two of them, then DC... I log back on again, I get one more, and I DC... I'm ******* sick of it, so I try to warp back to station, and I DC during warp... HELP ME FIX THIS BULL **** PLEASE
I thought it might be because I was running 2 clients at once, but after the first DC I only ran one and had the problem even more often.
I ran eve on a VM (virtual machine) and it ran just fine, it drops no more than it ever has before (which is from time to time, but not every fu*king 5 minutes or less). So I know for a absolute fact, it has nothing to do with my connection. It has something to do with the **** programming you guys have going on... You guys can't even get the drones to do what their supposed to... |

I have a similar issue. I occasionally get some sort of packet loss spike and the client closes. I get this from anywhere between ever 5 minutes and 2 hours. It is extremely annoying. The packet loss is because of an issue on our network, the connection is always up just the packet loss causes the client disconnect somehow.
I think the EVE client is just extremely sensitive to connection issues. If your connection isnt 100% reliable it will boot you out to the login screen. I dont think it attempts a quick reconnect before booting you (which is what you would experience with most other online games).
They could probably fix it ... I mean, it can't be that hard to double check that the connection is lost before killing your client. |

I have also started to experience disconnect problems. I happens quite frequently, usually every 5 - 10 minutes. These problems just started this week as I didn't have any issues before then.... Sure hope this is sorted out soon! |

What exactly is happening? You've said you've been disconnected but then you've said your clients are "closed" which I take to mean crash to desktop.
If it's the first, how does your connection look in terms of packet loss if you use PingPlotter to ping 87.237.38.200? |

No, its not a CTD. The game still runs, but everything becomes unresponsive. Mods still cycle, but ammo isnt used. Drones dont respond, info screens dont load. After some amount of time (say 20 seconds on average at a guess) you get booted out to the login screen.
I do actually use ping plotter. I get 1 red spike (1 ping) which is always enough to cause me to dc. |

I tested my ISP several times yesterday: http://www.pingtest.net/result/50856139.png with 0% packet loss and a ping of 17 ms. If I turn up the graphics in game - it crashes. If I go to Jita - it crashes a lot. If I just sit in station it can sit as long as an hour but it eventually crashes. It seems like some sort of bandwidth bottleneck that eventually disconnects me. I am having no issues with any other applications - just Eve. Drivers are up-to-date, I have not installed or uninstalled anything recently so I'm at a loss here. I filled out a bug report hoping for some sort of response, no luck. I guess I can always file a petition although I'd rather not. |

That's to a server in Atlanta, GA, not eve. Use PingPlotter to test your connection to Eve. It's possible, though unlikely, that there's some issue with a server along the route to Eve's servers in London.
The fact that turning up the ingame graphics causes more crashes (by "crash" you mean disconnect right? If we're talking CTD there's different things to be done) is interesting. Do you have the WiS enabled? What do the temps on various components in your computer look like? If you have an ethernet card, is it close to the video card? Maybe extra heat is causing a problem.
After pinging Eve, set PingPlotter to ping the following at a fast rate for many samples over the course of a couple of minutes:
Your router, if you have one (typically 192.168.1.1) Your modem. Typically 192.168.100.1. The first external IP your modem takes on its path to Eve Your own ip. 127.0.0.1
Is there any packet loss or ping spikes on any of these plots? |

For me the packet loss can occur anywhere from 1 hop and onward. Our router occasionally drops packets, I was just hoping EVE would handle minor packet loss much more gracefully. I hate to say this but as gracefully as games like WOW which has no issue with the minor packet loss.

And as suddenly as this problem started it has now stopped..... I'm not sure what was causing it but I am glad it has stopped. 4-5 days of constant discos is no fun! |

Your router really shouldn't be dropping any packets at all. Especially not simple pings. If you ping your router at 1s interval for 5 minutes, what kind of packet loss are you seeing? Do the same pinging your modem. Was pinging localhost (127.0.0.1) okay with no dropped packets?

People who replyed and said test your connection is just plain and simplely not getting it... I plainly stated nothing is wrong with the connection... I can run eve on another computer on the same type of connection and it never drop... read what is posted next time... thanks... and issue still unresolved...
Nothing on my computer changed in 5 seconds... nothing is over heating... none of that crap... all i know is 1 minute it works, next minute it wont stop losing connection and i'm forced to log back in... maybe i should make a video and show u all how pathetic it is... sometimes i get kicked before i can ever select my character in the selection menu...
READ THIS ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS WHAT SO ******* EVER WITH THE CONNECTION... NO PACKET LOSS, NO TEMPORARILY LOSING CONNECTION, NONE OF THAT...
Edit: took out some profanity... |

I posted complaints a while ago, GMs responded and were keen to help but did not solve (or, I think, understand the problem).
Today I have a fairly constant ping and no packets losses and the game DC's. Besides which, any connection should be able to recover from a little bit of packet loss.
My suspicion is that there is some sub-routine that runs the connection that trips up under certain conditions that may be related to the jitter on the connection, ie is sensitive to the order in which data is received.
It would be REALLY nice if CCP could give us some graphical representation of how our connection to the server is. (like a red/green spot). Or at least the option for this.
Other games have no problems on my connection, even with multiple people using it. I know other people using the same internet connection type with the same service provider playing games like BF3 with no problems.
What Malus Rimor described is exactly what I get. Although not always right after a packet loss, and in fact a packet loss will not guarantee causing the connection failure. |

It's been almost a week and there has been no response by GM or DEV to this thread. Something is very clearly wrong somewhere.
I remember the last time a thread like this was up it got at least GM attention? The lack of response leads me to suspect that something IS wrong and CCP doesn't know how to handle it.
Please tell me you guys a) know if there is a problem and are fixing it or b) no it must definitely be my internet connection (:-\). Otherwise I feel I am left hanging and it is very frustrating, pretty much spoils the pre-Crucible vibe. |

Ok, so i got told this by an awesome person in the newbie help chat today, i actually popped over to this forum intending to bump the old thread on the subject.
Go to your router, turn of UPNP (Universal Plug n' Play) in the router settings, it's put in advanced settings on a bt home hub if that's of any use to you guys.
been plain sailing for about 2 hours without a single problem now, undocking is slightly slower than before, but that may just be coinceidence.
edit : just undocked as quickly as i used to, so it was just coinccidence. |

I haven't seen you do or say anything that can definitely rule out an issue with your own hardware, so your options are:
1. Take other's advice and spend 5 minutes or so checking your connection out, or: 2. Call your ISP, have them come out. If the problem isn't something on their end, you'll have to pay their fee even after they did nothing and then you're forced to proceed with 1 anyway
