I've jumped quite a few times now, and the problem still has not recurred since I conformed my graphics settings for my two-three clients. At least one poster in this thread only runs one client, so maybe the issue is the actual graphics settings rather than making sure they are all the same. Anyway, here is what I am using now:
Display adapter: Radeon 9800 XT
Windowed mode
24 bit color
1920x1080
16-bit z-buffer
z-buffer
has anyone else tried changing their graphics settings? the only problem I've had since changing them is that once the system name stopped changing even though I was jumping through several gates (ie, the top left corner kept reading "System X" even as I jumped through several other systems).

heh, I knew this would happen...while I still haven't had the problem while jumping lately, I just had the problem while docking, which had never happened to me before...

If you are running any sort of download, uploads, torrents or P2P, or someone else on your connections is, try stopping all that and see if your problem goes away.

I had this problem for nearly two months. It appeared to have started after I installed AVG-S (AVG's Spyware software) and ZoneAlarm. My bugs included freezing at the jump gate after jumping, losing my icons on the left bar, and/or losing my undock button.
I petitioned this and the GM told me to remove my cache to let it reset. This did not fix the issue for me. I talked with some corp members and we came up with those two apps I had running; AVG-S and ZoneAlarm. I uninstalled them and haven't had this bug since. I also stop my IIS server whenever I play.
The normal AVG is still installed so it seems to work fine with Eve. Concerning AVG-S, it has this annoying guard.exe process that's hard to disable (for troubleshooting). Perhaps it was the issue, perhaps not.

My fing god. Okay, i've tried the various workarounds listed in this thread, and i'm getting sick and tired of having to constantly reconnect and such. My character is stuck in .3 system after i moved the browser folder (insted of deleting it, incase it caused problems).
I run a geforce 6100, 2gb ram. All in all, i've been running it all fine until the last patch (to my knowledge), no freezing or anything. Now i cant even get my character out of his emergency warp to arrive at the jump gate without locking up.

Not wanting to be a bearer of bad news but Ive had this particular problem for at least 2 years. I have petetioned but it is always "my setup" at fault. It seems that the jumping bug and the loss of icons bug are related. If you have an office at that base then at least you can access your stuff, but it is still annoying. Ive pretty much steeled myself to restart the game at least 3 times if i am diong a lot of jumps. Dont expect a fix any time ive given up on it.
