Swap the 800 II for Dual 250mm Railguns to make full use of your MFS II

Don't you find the range on 800mm to be kind of limiting?
I use artillery for that reason on L3s, and I'd see the problem being even worse on L4 where distance helps your tank.

The set-up seems to be quite nifty. I was thinking the same thing about the artillery, the range would allow you to maybe drop one of the PDUs for another damage mod. I've also been trying to work out a set-up that would allow me to do level 4s in a tempest so if anyone has some more ideas plz post in this thread!

Well 1600s dont exist as far as I know :P but yeah 1400s tech II or named would be the best bet for artis... Id go for somthing like this if i was using them: Hi: 6x1400mm IIs or named 1x tractorbeam (maybe) 1/2x assault missiles with defenders or lights for tackling frigs Med: 1x XL CL5 3x rat specific hardeners 1x Shield boost Amp Lo: 3xPDU II 3x Gyrostab II I think this would fit if not maybe use 4/5 PDU to make up the PG needed? just an idea is all

ack my bad ok for the lows i think 3x PDU 1x Co-pro 2x damage mods
I worked this out using tech1 fittings so using named would probably allow you to fit allot of this without the co-pro im not sure about tech II to be honest. If possible id like some feedback on the set-up please ^^

Tempest is a lovely ship, just keep in mind it's very skill intensive. I wouldn't recommend flying one without techII guns and at least battelship 4, BS5 ASAP. Last level of BS gives you 11% more damage roughly. If you don't have a crapload of skills in gunnery, I wouldn't recommend it, as it will underperform, despite the fact it's a SWEET ship. Did I say I love it yet?

No way in hell will you be able to fit 800mm or 1400mm guns without a rack full of fitting mods. 650s are an excellent alternative though. Save the 800s for your Machariel As for artillery, they are even more difficult to fit, and far less usefull on missions. Rarely do you ever get the distance needed to make these bad boys shine. My advice to you is to fit 650's, cruise missiles or nosses, the biggest baddest armor tank you can fit and cap stuff to fill it out. At least two reppers. I do not believe a single XL cl5 shield booster can be ran sustainable, nor will it allow you to tank sufficiently.

Perhaps in your experience.
In mine, I dropped the three Dual 650mm on my Typhoon because they were hardly ever in range to hit anything. I get the feeling every rat but Guristas just comes wandering right up to people, seeing all these ACs in mission running setups.
My typical engagement range is 17-35km; only the weak cruisers come any closer than that. 1200mm has no trouble hitting out to that range.

Most level 4 missions are packed with cruisers, in fact "rogue drone harrasment" has nothing larger than cruiser size. Hitting those without a web will be painful. Since you have been running lvl4s for 6 mos you know all about the bugs that keep you from just using drones to kill the trash.
Try: 6 x AC, 1x cruise missiles, 1 tractor beam 3x cap recharger, webber, AB 1 lg rep, 2x Gyro, 3x active hardeners (I use 2 kinetic and 1 thermal for everything except angels missions)
You gain ~20 dps from the missiles. You will be twice as effective against small ships within 10km with the web. You can run everything except the AB forever without breaking cap, making the nos useless. You lose... uhh... nothing.
I dont see why you'd bother with artillery since ACs are effective out to 30km and very few ships hang out past that.
