Insufficient power, my fat patootie! It's a bloomin barge that can power massive bloody lasers that shoot a beam 3 feet across and suck giant chunks of rock from asteroids! WARP ME RIGHT ACROSS THE SYSTEM, DANGIT!
<ahem> Barges need bigger power cores. :P Having to warp 3 times to get across an 85AU system is rather sucky, in my humble opinion. ------

Yup, a couple hours of training let me make big jumps in my Retriever, or even a Kestrel. I still fall short sometimes in a Heron, though.

Already got that skill up there, but thanks. :D
With my skills, my Ity 4 has 440 grid. Retriever has 220. That's the source of the issue, I think. I just don't see the reason behind it having so little. ------

i personally think that the retriever has not got enough powergrid as it is. definately could do with a little boost. --

Look at it this way, now you're more likely to autosafespot when fleeing from everything.

A good observation. I've actually been saved a couple times by my ship failing to complete a warp in unfriendly territory.
And just so we're clear, we're talking about the barge's "Capacitor", which is the recharging source of warp and module energy, not its "Powergrid", which allows it to fit modules, right?

yes, its the size of the capacitor that dictates how far you can warp. well, the cap size is the only thing you can tweak on your ship to get a bigger warp distance. the ships bulk is also taken into consideration when it works out how far it can throw u over the system. so for a ship like your barge or the kessy based stealth bomber, being a relativly weighty ship with a small capacitor makes for a very bad warp range.
so if your mid slots permit try squeezing on a cap battery. also pump that warp efficiancy skill up to lvl5 and work on the cap skill that increases your cap size (the other one for cap regen is also a must have but wont help this particular problem).
just to be clear this has nothing to do with the ships power core, or cpu for that matter. its all to do with the ships bulk (used to make it feel like an unweildy industry focused ship as opposed to a nippy fighter ship) and the amount of capacitor charge available.
if you get the 2 skills i mentioned maxed out with a decent sized cap battery and still cant warp a decent distance come back with your results and start campaining for a better warp range. good luck .
dont forget that its never gonna be perfect, you may have to sacrifice some fittings to get a good sized cap battery on. but if you've done all you can and made what sacrifices you can and the ship still wont play ball then you will be in a position to complain and ask for a better warp range.
Because sometimes you just have to go back to your roots: [2005.02.20 01:08:03] (combat) Your Civilian Light Electron Blaster perfectly strikes Serpentis Smuggler, wrecking for 20.3 damage. |
