So I was bored during DT and I started browsing around eve-files and I noticed this torrent directory, full of torrents for movies that have been posted here.
I thought, "what a cool idea, we can all share, get faster speeds and put less load on eve-files.com". How do I get my movie link turned into a torrent?

Its now an inactive feature. Admins could when approving movies on eve files also produce a torrent file for that movie (when they were 50mb+). However it simply was not used. Why use a torrent when you can download directly from the server? In the end it was simply shelved.

Yep what Loxy said, altho BT is great when it comes to bandwidth (and sometimes speed) it was just not used, since most of you get decent speeds right off EVE-Files and thus wouldn't bother to seed the torrent.
So I closed it down, but I have not removed the feature only deactivated it, might become useful in the future.

Edited by: Levin Cavil on 08/06/2006 09:56:15 Speaking as someone who lives on the western side of the united states a torrent link for eve-files would be greatly apprecaited. It won't make anyone's downloads slower and it can only accelerate downloads for those of us that are far away. To make it really work I supose the torrented files would only be offered as torrents to increase seeds but it's not like bittorrent is hard to use.
Please Chribba, show me some love :| ---------- <Kayosoni> I'm actually normal |

I fully see your need/wants for torrent, but as it took more resources than what I saved it isn't an option I will resume for the time being.
However, your speeds should get improved soon as I switch ISP and my new has their own dedicated atlantic cables thus reducing the peering times by far. So even you west coast people can benefit from it.
And yes I also have plans for an US mirror.
