Most of the good pirate loot is sold there because it's a hassle to sell it ingame since you can't list it on the market.

Well, considering you devote hours upon hours to the game; is a few bucks really that much different? Time is money after all.
Not that I think Ebay auctions are cool or anything, they pretty much ruin the economy of every online game.

I'm pretty much dead against buying from ebay, paying money for something that you didn't earn in the game? I do understand some people don't have the time to earn their own gear, and are willing to pay to be a top player.
I really don't have a problem with people selling stuff though, kind of funny how that works eh? They worked hard to earn it, and should get some real value out of it if they choose. _________________________________________________________

Being against buying but in support of selling on ebay... quite a paradox you have going there.
If you don't like people buying stuff on ebay, remember one thing: they never buy skill.
Quite simply, if they don't know how to put to good use the things they buy, it's really just wasted money. And we all like to laugh at people who have wasted their money. --------------- I used to be in the FA. I like cookies. Eve Radio is teh pwn. |

most game companies have come to realize that the aution market their games generate is important in terms of maintaining interest and sucscribers. Complaning about it is just another version of somebody has something I don't and I can't get it.
Consider just for a moment the guy who can only play for 2 hours a week because of work and family constraints. How long will it take him to get a battleship? Months? Years? What if he hates mining? Good bye casual player. Will it kill me if he buys a battleship? No Will it make mine less shiney? No Will it keep his subscription paid up? Yep
I have a counter question why do so many people focus on what other people have and how they are getting it? There is almost nothing you can't get by your self.

Despite the fact that it is against the eula, nothing is done about this. So, basically, it will keep going, and keep growing. _______________________________________________

It's an interesting bit of economics. I personally play 2 accounts (so what, $26 US a month), at least in part to get ahead in the game faster. Wonder what I could have bought with $50 US and not bothered with the 2nd account?
Personally I have no moral opinion on this one way or another, although I myself have never bought or sold EVE stuff for RL cash. What I do find a little amazing is that someone thinks it is worth months of their life to build up a huge powerful character, tons of Isk, tons of BPs and then take a measly few hundred bucks IRL for it? Have they done the math on what they were paying themselves an hour? They could have done better working a week at a 7/11...
