Getting to the point where I can afford to upgrade to a BS.
Since I am Minmatar the logical chice would be either the Typhoon or the Tempest.
But what I like doing most is ratting in 0.0
Would either of these be ok, or should I train up the additional skills to fyl another race's BS offering such as the Raven, Scorp or megathron ?

All battleships can rat confortabely in 0.0 with decent skills.. you could only get in trouble if you get some kind of uber spawn (officer of faction).
The only BS I would advice against is the Scorp... it's damage output can be too low to break some of the toughtest tanks.
That being said, the Apoc and Raven are kings of NPC ratting. The first because it uses no ammo, the second because it can choose it's damage types to match the NPC resistance weaknesses.
Close runner up is the Dominix, but that is only for those that are into drones.
It also depends on what type of NPC you are fighting. It will be tougher fighting Angels with an Apoc for example, since all you do is EM/thermal damage.

It is possible to rat with both ships. I rat Sancha with my Phoon and have not found a spawn I cannot take easily. If you are asking will other bs's do it better then yes, but I find there is more "fun" value in Minnie ships.
There is no reason for you not to train another races ships apart from the whole time sink it will take, especially training up another gunnery skill etc.

tbh unless you wanted a change I'd stick with the race you have :)
your used to using their kind of ships and you already have the right sort of skills for it.
I can fly 3 races worth of ships and in some ways its a real curse!

The region of 0.0 in our friends out there are the Gurista's.
I can take on quite a few of the spawns in my Cyclone, so I assume then that fitted with the right tanking \ ammo combination the Typoon would be able to dispatch the more quickly and take on some of the larger BS spawns too! |

The Phoon with it's 7 lows means you can fit a nice rat specific tank. Then with ac's and cruise in top and 5x heavy drones you will pop all bs's easily enough IMHO.
