atm, for training, i would go to 'Heretic Academy' - heretic army's (executor corp for BANE) training corp. There are quite a few around though.

I would recommend you check out The Tuskers. They are highly skilled and very competent, I won't use the H word, so I'll just say they are very mature.

Just go into low sec and blow sh*t up. Then wait 15 minutes and do it again- there ya go- all the yarr training you need. Or you could try it in null, somewhere like curse for example, but you would probably get podded. There it is. |

Or, grow an actual pair and head down to Delve. You can use the PR- base (npc controlled) or any of Goonswarm's freeports in the area as a base of operations and actually get into things instead of wasting away in lowsec. |

I agree with the above- Found a nice little system to go hunt ratters in- Y-K5OG- 5963 NPC kills in the last day or so.
It's in curse, all you'll have to do is get into that system, get your scanner out and go kill some ratters. Get into Doril and Jorund for some practice first. There it is. |

Essentially that's all there is to it. In the beginning you know nothing, you attack everything. You die in a fire gloriously. You laugh, get a new ship and then head off to do it again. Then you get your first kill, the excitement of besting another person, the adrenalin. Before you know it you are trying to fit in a quick roam before work so you can get your fix ^^.
Remember to always honor ransoms. Don't smack talk. Look fabulous while exploding.
For more practical approach to learning - google the punisher plan. Taureen is mostly self taught and when from newbie to seasoned veteran. Each blog post has his fittings, thoughts on improvements and what he was trying to do.

Also have a look at wensley's rifter guide - you can take alot from it even if not flying rifters. Then there's also the pirate guide. Google will point you to all these.
I look forward to seeing you in space. And remember - explode like a boss. |

Just a quick note about The Tuskers: recruitment is currently completely closed. If/when we open it again, our recruitment requirements will likely go up and will be aimed at the more experienced player.
As for pirate academies, Heretics have one as well as Fla5hy Red. Can't offer you any first hand experience of either unfortunately though :(

Some quick tips I can give:
Head out into lowsec in a cheap t1 ship, shoot everything that moves, lose some ships (as you will do), challenge other fellow pirates to duels as most pirate corps hold and honor 1vs1 and usually the pirate will match your ship (t1 friggie vs t1 friggie), thats how I learned the most fighting duels and actually joined FLA5HY RED, after the duel try sqeeze that pirate of all info you can get, if you ask kindly most pirates (in my experience) will let you know what you did wrong/right. Hell if you cant get any info out of him next time tell the pirate "Ill duel you on one condition, you tell me what i do wrong if I lose" most pirates will take you up on that as they see you as an easy kill with a newbie char, who knows if you do good it might lead to a recruitment as well.
Dont fight on gates or stations in your frigate :P, unless your target is red ofc.
EDIT: One of the tusker members mentioned we have an academy, atm we are in discussion to see what we will do with it so it might not be here tomorrow (lack of pirate wannabes!). Director of FLA5HY RED - Sarah xCalibre |

I don't know about Fla5hy Red's public channel but they are cool people to pew pew with and are friendly (whilst still being down and dirty pirate scumbags). Tuskers public channel is a great place to hang out, especially when it is more active, which seems to be fairly open but euro prime time. Furthermore if you are looking for another corp to consider getting help from there is the Black Rebel Rifter Club who are recruiting at the moment and may well take a newcomer under their wing.
In all honesty though, you don't actually need a corporation in order to get started in Piracy. A few basic skills, a reasonably fit Rifter / Merlin / Incursus / (maybe) Punisher and you are good to go. Even when you lose a fight you learn so much from it that it's well worthwhile.
Solo isn't for everyone and I don't expect people to go that route but it can be very rewarding (and equally frustrating!) but more importantly you will learn much more by soloing than you will by following someone else's orders. There's room for both in most peoples PVP activity and the best thing with getting comfortable soloing is you never have to sit around bored waiting for corp mates to log in.
