IGÇÖm writing this post because if IGÇÖm correct there should be presidential election in the Federation at the end of this year, Jacus Roden assumed office GÇ£At 16:08 on January 18 YC112GÇ¥ and the presidential term lasts five years and that means that elections should be held at the end of this year.
And I have been wondering does the Live Events team plans to do something this year with it or we will get news articles only ?
And a question to older players about last elections, I know there was some king of event done related to it, could you describe it and how can it be improved if they would want to do a similar format.

Lol, Roden should try a power grab, turn Gallente into the evil dictatorship of terror, meanwhile Heth of Caldari State dies of a completely natural cause and his successor, A Rogue Drone carrying a copy of the mind of Otro Gariuhi, uses the immense ressources acquired through all the taxes from Jita 4-4 to transform the Caldari State into the haven of hope for all those that fled the Gallente federation.
High Tech Haven of hope with rumors of missing people.
After lots of scheming and plotting we later then learn that the rogue drones were secretly harvesting human brains and Roden had to turn the Gallente Federation into a Dictatorship to be able to effectively oppose the Drones in the silent war that raged in the past few years and only with the help of Sansha's Nation (who are also secretly the good guys) they can finally win. EDIT: Win in a not satisfying kind of way that paves the way for the "return" of now Rogue Drone Tibus Heth with a powerful android body disguised as human, fuelled by stolen Concord Tech.
Would totally watch that if it were on TV. Stupidity should be a bannable offense.

Be fair. If the FDU hadn't sucked so bad that year they might not have been occupied at all.

I think a Gallente election could be run quite easily leveraging some already-existing infrastructure that CCP has already built.
So, for those who are resident in the Gallente Federation (that are a member of a corporation that is headquartered in Gallente territory, whether a player or NPC corp), the location of the headquarters could determine which "district" the individual lives in. For the sake of simplicity, a coarse measure such as a district being the equivalent of a constellation, might be best.
During the voting period, each qualifying Gallente voter would receive a choice of ballot via the gift redemption system that has been used for holidays and other landmarks in the past. The player would select the person that they are voting for. It would be a simple matter to tally the ballots cast for each candidate by district, and then declare a winner. It might also mean that some of the membership of the Gallente Senate would then be determined by the players as well, through a proportional slate system associated with the proportion of votes cast for each Presidential candidate.
Well, that's an idea to leverage existing tools, but perhaps CCP would go the custom route.
I hope the Revs push ahead with an election... what's the point of having selected membership in the only democratic faction if we do not have elections? The problem with slavery is that only half of the manacles are visible. The Holder, supposed master, is equally bound by the gilded chains of privilege and wealth. Sorrowful is the state of humanity, which shall never be free until all share equally in Liberty.

Because 99.99999999999999999999999999% of the voting people are NPC's and live on the planets. Probably need a whole lot more 9's there also. The players are a drop in not just an ocean, but entire systems full of water worlds. There are trillions and trillions of people in New Eden. So there is no way player votes would have the slightest impact on it. |
