To the gimp who mined belt 10 1 of all the jaspet, you moron, if I ever find out who you are you will be podded time and again.
We were trying to determine if mining everything but jaspet would grow it, but you just botch that up thanks.
I hope you get space-herpies! |

This is actually a pretty valid point hidden in amongst the angst.
TomB stated that the roids are growing exactly like they should be in the original design spec. Unfortunately, what CCP didnt forsee was people not letting them grow to a decent size before mining them.
Arcane Technologies have obviously thought about this problem and attempted to create a Jaspet farm at one of their belts. Probably a few weeks work too?
So someone swoops in and mines the ore, it could have been pre-meditated or just some solo miner who stumbled across it. It doesnt matter, what does matter is that at the time being I think any corp is wasting their time trying to do this due to having to sit and watch a farm 24 hours a day - very difficult to do!
The forthcoming corporation owned systems will allow the player to at least defend his farms in empire space but I can't see a solution to having to defend a farm 24 hours a day from pirate farmers.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Valid point yes, but how are other people to know that you were trying to do that? Until players can plant their own billboards to post this info to the public, you will just have to take your chances in not mining something in the sake of "science"

You could try anchoring a secure container in the roid belt, and then naming it "Baby Roid Experiment in Progress, Please Don't Mine Jaspet."
Anyone who mouseovers that will see the message. And they'll know what corp to contact. Who dosen't mouseover containers?

These experiments should be carried out in 0.0 space with undesirable belts to begin with, doing them in empire space is just asking for it.
