Hi all,
I was wondering about giant secure cargo containers. I have 2 of them I use when mining solo. Can I leave them in space indeffinetly?

u need anchoring skill toe leave them in space for long periods of time

Hi I anchor them too but was wondering if it's safe to leave them out there for a few days. I heard they can degrade in space??

not sure as far as i know if they are anchored they should be ok

no problems with mine, i actually dropped them before the patch and they are still there, i guess the patch preanchored them cause i scooped one and had to unanchor it to do so. but so far so good. giant cans seem too good to be true.....cept that in a bestower you can hold 3 of them...yet only space them out at 5km range, it takes a while to gather them with all those expanders

to get round that 5km anchor, jetson them then anchor them, don't know if this is a bug or not but it works and cuts down on the run time when collecting the ore

That's good to know. I was afraid to leave them out because I thought I would go back one day and find them gone!

Don't you have to "launch for self" or "launch for corp"?

if you jetson, and then set password (on first use, any other time the remember the old password) and then give out the password to corp members or anyone you deem fit to allow access then they can access them.
I haven't found out why you have launch for self or launch for corp yet but then I do it the jetson and anchor method and hand out the password to my corp buddies!

PLus doing it this way you can "rent" your giant pods to noobies for 10% of the ore income while you go off gallavanting in your new crusier
eg. Leave a msg on giant can saying "evemail 'X' to rent this can" then when someone does agree a price and give them the password, as far asI know they can't unachor it to steal it but can still use it to store ore!

I'm pretty sure if you have the password to a can and the anchoring skill you can unanchor somebody elses can quite happily.
But don't quote me on that. Good idea though renting out cans.

As far as I know it cannot be unanchored by anyone else except the person that put it there in the first place... It doesn't ask your password when anchoring/unanchoring any way.
Anyways my ginat cans are still floating around where I left them
I think I should charge 1% on all renatal fees as my patent as well but hey any donations for using this idea are welcome!!!
