Originally by: Sarmaul I see missile guys doing serious damage. Not only that, but they don't lose any damage the further the missile has to go either.
LOL. Unless you count the 100% reduction because the target has put the kettle on, had a cup of tea and a nice biscuit, and then warped out before the missiles actually hit him.

You are wrong. I have no such inherent "nature".
I'm starting to think, though, that being a bleeding idiot is in your "nature".

Exaggerate much? Case in point.

Xori, maybe it would help if you elaborated on what you want to see nerfed, rather than just yelling "nerf them" at every available opportunity.
For my money, missiles are about balanced with turrets right now. Missile ships will never be great in PVP (because of the delay thing) and turret ships will never be as good in missions (because NPCs don't warp out, so the delay thing doesn't matter).
So if each ship has a role...where's the problem?

Missiles should be secondary weapon systems (and drones as well).
Every ship should have weapon hardpoints instead of missile and turret hardpoints.
After this make missiles slow, but very accurate. Implement subsystem targeting and destroying and make missiles the ultimate anti-subsytem whilst turrets the nber anti-hull class of weapon.

I would love the whining about tracking disrupters to stop it's starting to sound like a creche in here .
I mean come on no Raven pilot in his/her right mind is going to fit tracking disrupters when they can fit usefull mods like sensor dampners and jammers.
Tracking disruptors may only effect turret users but that means nothing in a missle thread since a Raven has all the speed and manuverbility of a large Veld roid and will still get hit by most disrupted ships.

I remember when I first started EvE thinking, "ECM, hmm, I should hold on to these in case I run into some enemies that use lots of missiles." because IRL ECM is a counter to missiles, and missiles only, not turrets.
Perhaps this is the solution to both missile overpoweredness AND missile overpoweredness. We already have tracking disruptors and sensor dampeners. ECM should make missiles miss you, perhaps not all of the time, but most of the time.

This anti-missile jihad stuff is getting old.
Electronic Warfare Remote Sensor Damps, works vs Missiles + Turrets + Drones (i think). Target Jammers, works vs Missiles + Turrets but not drones or FOF. Tracking Disruptor, works vs Turrets, usually. Defender Missiles, works vs missiles, currently obsolete.
Omgosh! Maybe they should just fix defenders by giving them their own launcher and making them work propery?
This whole missiles are unstoppable omfg please save us from their overpowered might CCP!!! thing is rather stupid. Missiles aren't that uber in PvP, this is coming from a guy with 12 mil SP in missiles okay.. a good turret ship can pwn you any day of the week. ------

Quite.
Ignoring PvP for a minute, missiles are a bit pants in PvE because they just don't do as much damage as turrets. You can argue that with turrets you can't take stuff out equally well at 215km and 1km, but NPCs are already serious defender junkies, so killing a BS at 40km with cruise takes at least 150% the time taken to kill one at 5km.
This makes cruiser like short range guns, but really really weak short range guns. Torpedoes are actually more effective at range than cruise due to the fact that 1/2 of them don't get taken down, but not if you want to kill anything smaller than a battleship. ------------------------ Fuzzylogic |

Drones will still retarget onto ppl if you allready had them out and fighting. But it will stop FOF's working beyond your new target range.
I'm not really for ANY changes to misisle balance except the introduction of heavy rocket launchers at this point.

Actually they are scheduled. I'm pretty sure that it can be done just by tweaking numbers and not change the way they are work. But in any case it might be a good idea to create a dedicated launcher for this.
Yeah launchers that fit in your mid slots.
