This is not a complaint just a notice. as seems the game mechanics changed abit. And if i missed a pulic notice of it beforehand i apologize. But YOU ARE NO LONGER INVULNERABLE WHEN YOU PUT UP A CYNOFIELD. you can now be targeted and destroyed. Just FYI. make sure you pass the word so your mates don't lose those force recons due to ignorance.

Hmm, makes sense, because they said it's handled by the game as some kind of cloaking device. Wonder, if you can fit cloaking device and cyno-generator now on the same ship. ( I haven't read the patch notes so far. )
edit: uhm, was too slow.

Just tried it and "2006.06.08 22:36:02 notify You cannot cloak your ship with more than one cloaking device installed. The interference from one device being installed prevents any other from working."
So I guess not yet.

nope you are now just a sitting target. which sux for the forc recons. I foresee force recons never being used for cynofields again unless they fix that feature. and if not hope they change the bonuses on them to something that can be used. cause now those bonuses are pretty much useless and it is like saying here come take my recon please.

don't bother in the patchnotes cause the change is not in there. tis why I made this thread so that people would know.

I'm sure I read in several different dev posts that the invuln thing was intentional...

Putting up cynos to simply avoid damage when knowing the invulnerability is a bug sounds like bug abuse/exploiting to me.

Cynos could very well work like gigantic ECM Bursts, no problem there.
Firing up cynos with no intent to bring in a capital ship should never be considered an exploit, feigning support being on the way should remain valid tactics.

You are still unlockable, once you start a cynosural field, for the duration of the field. Nothing has changed. Nothing to see here.
However, just as it has always been, if you are targeted and locked BEFORE activating the field, then activating the field doesn not break locks and you can be killed and you can't escape it.
Try it for yourself.
Undock, have someone lock you, start the field. The persont hat had you locked can still kill you, but no one else can lock you at all.

Shouldn't 10 minutes be long enough to pick up a smartbomb from somewhere and kill/pod him? I don't think you can use repairers while cynoed, so you wouldn't even need that many smartbombs.

awww i fitted 1 to my viator. it's great jump into a camp u can't escape just hit it as soon as you uncloak then log. doubtfull a camp has smarties so you vanish as soon as the field goes down.

if the field vanishes after your ship is killed, i can see possible exploits like making the field in a probe, and then your own fleet kills u when all have arrived just to kill that big "warp to me". a carrier can hold enough probes as substitutes for u. only thing is the perhaps lost cyno generator, but they are not that expensive anyway.

Maybe now is a good time for an official Dev answer or statement on this.
HAving proven mostly mature the Eve community can take it if Cynosural Generators are bugged either way.
We just need to know where we are standing - so if there is a chance, please let us know.
As it is now even the GMs, trying there *very best*, are not coherent on this topic.
So - what is the current stance on Cynosural fields ?
1) Makes you untargettable after activation, but not invulnerable to e.g. smartbombs
2) Makes you fully targetabble and attackable by all means, but in turn lets you lock other ships and use (aka turn off and ON ) your modules on board ?
3) Broken
Thanks for helping to use this can of worms to catch more fish in the sea ;)
