I havent had this much fun on the forums since I began whoring them. I think as the news team develops, the news will get better and better and I cant wait.
Its brilliant having new information EVERY time I boot up the game about the players within the game

Edited by: Andrew Jade on 25/09/2003 17:12:10 Yeah the player written/involved news is so good. I also like the fact that everytime i log on i hear about another event in another region. Also its handy that they announce things, like the closing of the Stain/curse regions. Its usefull for people that may not read the forums.

I like the EVE news but where is the actual content to back it up? I want to find that ghost ship and I also want to kill the minmatar raiders, but their not even entities in EVE, just some ones imgination.
What are you going to do? I'm going to kill them all sir |

This is unfortunately often very true.. and one of the problems with making up news: the player is left either assuming its "Not there" or confused as to whether it is there.
The current "service" has closer ties to story-telling than to news.

yup. Those news definately are a lot of fun. I simply love reading stories about EvE and if these stories involve real players I¦m twice as happy. It makes EvE "breathe" IMO since you know that it¦s real people behind some of the stories.
Keep it up CCP you¦re doing great. And to the people who write the news you¦ve done a great job so far. Kudos :)

Yeah its cool how we can watch all the other player news services die out now due to lack of support and in-game methodology of reaching players - wtg CCP!

For it's storytelling value I like it. Hopefully there will be news with in-game backing. -------------------------

So far I've been highly annoyed by two news articles however... The miner2 advertisement is rather unappropriate... It's not news. It's advertising. He could have at least put the other miner2 resellers in there for comparison in an unbiased journalistic way.
And the news about Stavros for emperor is flat out ridiculous in the most unserious manner possible. He's a player, a pilot, merely, like everyone else, a commander of a ship and in no way noble.
This kind of abuse just ****es me off.
Stick to something serious for heavens sakes... Don't post just to post... Or return the newsposting to cpp, at least it was serious.
You're making your own names here, Reporters, yeah you. If you want respect you gotta write properly.

So far all the story's have been good bar ONE:
WHO THE FECK LET THAT NOOB FROM TECHELL CORP WRITE BASICALLY A PLUG FOR HIS CORP. NEWS IS NOT FOR ADVERTS. CRAZY!
Heres a story Suggestion
Sinister are teh l33t. They are the best. They promise to give Miner 4s to everyone who donates them 10mill.
think itll make it? The last story like that did...

Yes Lallante, I jumped when reading that "story" about Techell too. No, im not a miner - so I dont need the miner 2's, so im not whining that they are expensive or anything. The economic unbalance of the game do worry me quite some - that one corp now is allowed to turn into one economic megapower, wheres the gamebalancing there. SOmething so warmly talked about in other respects.
But it certanly wasnt news and resembled one advert more than anything else so cant but agree with you about that.

i love the new player based articles. its great when something you are taking part in (ie the Curse vs Stain war) makes EVE news :D
the whole point of it though is that the journalists write about things that interest them. A corp changed the Miner II deals, and this was seen as a rip off my the journalist. he made this clear, and in an un-baised way. it was not a plug, but proffesional journalism on an issue of interest- to me at least.

Having the news about player events is a good addition. They do seem to older news, as most are taken from the forums, but still good place for those who do not read the forums.
On a side note, with the addition of the player news, it would be nice if some of the important technical news were to be highlighted. A two line statement mentioning systems which are not safe to travel in seems to disappear amongst the other news.
