E3 2014 is upon us and CCP is putting out the call for another rocking player gathering. Come on down to the Pig NGÇÖ Whistle (6714 Hollywood Blvd, LA, CA) to drink and swap war stories with CCP team members and local capsuleers.
All are welcome but space is limited to and an RSVP does not guarantee entry, so be sure to come on time.
Attendees will join the festivities in the backroom of the Pig NGÇÖ Whistle with an open bar from 8:30 pm to 10:30 pm. The party will continue for all comers after 10:30 pm as it moves to the front room of the venueand all attending players will receive free admission to the Pig NGÇÖ Whistle Karaoke night starting right after.
So RSVP now to come on down, drink it up and sing it out!
P.s. Make some noise in the thread if you're coming out !

Google Street View shows me there's a 'church'? of Scientology on the next block. My irreverent self wonders how much evil a bunch of capsuleers could foist upon the unwary practitioners with our stories of our wild life in space.
This picture fondly reminds me of a moment during Fanfest where we encountered a group of Ministers of the church of Latter Day Saints in the Old Harbour and one of our number started role playing his Amarr character. bliss |

Soooo, space is limited and we're supposed to be there on time? Don't you mean be there early?
Anyway, I missed the Hollywood event a few years ago due to car trouble. I have a good running car now so hopefully I'll be able to make it to this one.

Not much advertizing done on this at all. I didn't even know this event was happening until another Eve Player informed me about it yesterday.
Anyway, I listed the event in the California Eve Players (USA) thread with a link to this thread. If I had been previously notified I would have posted this event in our California Capsuleers Message Board and sent a notice to everyone on our mailing list.

Yeah, I'm going. Wild horses couldn't keep me from attending this one.
I don't remember one held in the Los Angeles area last year, 2013. Guess I totality noobed out on that.
However I do remember missing the one in Hollywood on June 7th, 2012 due to car problems. I tried to get a ride with players who lived nearby but it seems the game meme, Never Trust Anyone, also extended into real life.

First of all I'd like to thank CCP for hosting this event, definitely a good way to meet other Eve players. It was good to see familiar faces there, people / character names I know from past California Eve Meets.
It was especially great meeting new people there. Some of the character names I recognized from the game / forums and a few players even recognized my character name. Always a good thing when that happens.
What's really cool is I even met some female Eve players there. Yes indeed, real live breathing female players in Eve.
However I gotta say I was kinda disappointed due to a couple of things.
This Event was advertised as 'Open Bar' which was actually only for certain types of Beer and Wine. Don't get me wrong, there was indeed a full bar there, just wasn't an open bar and the free Beer and Wine quickly ran out. The price for Mixed Drinks was expensive due to the location and the venue itself was just an average neighborhood type bar and grill.
Granted it did have a small private reception room attached but that quickly got over crowded, had poor ventilation and the music volume was too loud making communication very difficult.
In fact when the back room was opened up for us to enter, a group of people sat down at one of the tables and had their drinks spilled due to the table pedestal rocking / being off balanced. When it happened, I quickly shouted out "It's not a party unless drinks are spilled" to which one of the players at the table responded "It's official, it's now a party" amid other comments of 'being cut off' and 'lightweight', etc.
Be that as it may, I still enjoyed myself since it allowed me to meet quite a few other Eve Players. As such, I plan on attending other future CCP events as well. Just need correct info and a venue that can accommodate +100, m'kay.

I decided to leave it in the car and was happy to discover the venue felt exactly like the popular establishments along 6th street in Austin, TX.
chatting up passersby was a lot like posting in local and getting a friendly response followed by conversation. It provides some insight for self-reflection on how we tend to treat people from behind an RP space puppet vs real life. I find it's surprisingly necessary; I spent 9 years in the US military, the second half of that as a sergeant, and most of that job involves communicating with people. but when you play this game for so long, something changes, and gatherings like these are reminders that ships you see in space, and avatars in chat, who you are likely to disrupt using everything in your arsenal... are just people looking for an experience just like you.
so yeah, i think it was great, and every EVE meet i've attended has been the same way. Pig N Whistle was an excellent choice for a nice low-key environment where CCPs can unwind and meet some local players.
to CCP Manifest! I apologize for being all interrupting cow on my way out. the pub... the atmosphere... my manners eluded me.
CCP Curtis, if it wasn't yourself who picked the Pig N Whistle, please thank the person who did. it was an excellent choice
