I'm looking for a free TeamSpeak or Ventrillio server for my corporation to use. Does anyone know of one?

There are no free servers. Teamspeak and Ventrilo servers are always paid for, like regular game servers. Someone in our corp has to either host a server himself or pay for a professional one :)

ventrilo is the best quality can be run for free off a home server, but it's limited to one port and 8 players, but for small corps under say, 50, thats not bad.
Teamspeak is free and puts no limits on how many you can have, but it also eats up more bandwidth (already in short supply if youre running it at home) and it has more bugs (half my corp couldnt connect to ours.) Plus the voice clarity in teamspeak is just so much worse.
Our corp went ahead and rented a 50 slot vent server, which will last us for a long time to come. www.ventrilo.com has a list of places which rent vent servers.

Simply download the ventrilo or teamspeak server, and run it from your own computer.

Actually, it isn't. It's free up to 100 slots on a single server instance, up to 10 server instances (IIRC). More than 100 slots on an instance or more than 10 instances and you have to either buy a non-commercial single server license, or register as an authorised provider and pay the monthly usage based fee, where usage is based on slots used, minimum charge for 100 slots. If you take _any_ donations to help cover the bandwidth or server usage costs your server incurs then you don't qualify for the one-off server license. ______

- Only on default settings. Oh yeh thats right, you only have one codec option on vent
can be run for free off a home server, but it's limited to one port and 8 players, but for small corps under say, 50, thats not bad.
- Thats actually useless
Teamspeak is free and puts no limits on how many you can have, but it also eats up more bandwidth (already in short supply if youre running it at home)
- Short supply from home? on a 100/100mbit line?
and it has more bugs (half my corp couldnt connect to ours.)
- Vent is full of bugs, (try connect a few 100 people to it and watch what your server does) looks ugly, is clunky to use and totaly lacking in features. The reason half your corp couldnt connect to your TS server is due to the server admin not setting his server up properly or his router settings.
Plus the voice clarity in teamspeak is just so much worse.
- No its not, turn the codec up. Turn it down if you want worse quality but lower bandwidth useage.
Our corp went ahead and rented a 50 slot vent server, which will last us for a long time to come. www.ventrilo.com has a list of places which rent vent servers.
- Or get a decent connection and host a TS server, but get someone who has a clue about running servces to do it, that or check your web hosts services out, many now have a TS server option, so you can host a TS server on your corps net domain

Cool. Thanks...although, 8 slots max isnt enough :( 20-30 would be ideal.
