I was thinking about Player-Owned customs offices earlier, and realized that it could be expanded to something more:
Player-owned store fronts.
My initial idea is a customs office like array which basically acts like a local market hub. The owner/corp loads it up with items, and players can then purchase goods (or sell goods) directly from there into/out of their cargo holds. Rights could be assigned, to control who can purchase from it, and maybe further taxation can be assigned. The market array may be set to 'visible' or 'invisible' on the market browser, allowing either a public storefront, or a more secret, black-market front for those in-the-know.
Like customs offices, these could be attacked and destroyed by hostile parties.
Another way to do it might simply be to make it a POS array, and only people with the right privs to access the POS can use it.
The way I see it working is something like this: You anchor the store front.
Set it up to be 'hidden' or 'visible' on the market browser. Also set up the access privs, and tax rates.
With items in your hold, you set up sell orders. You may set them up as 'personal', 'corp', or 'alliance'. Items leave your hold, and are stored within the array.
Accessing the array opens up the market browser for the array. Purchase your item as normal. The item is moved to your cargo hold.
Set up buy orders, if you want. If they are filled, they are stored in a private hold, similar to objects stored in a customs office.
Buy and sell orders in a "Hidden" storefront are only visible at the storefront itself. "Visible" store fronts appear on the market browser as per normal.
I feel this would be useful for setting up corp-level stores for reimbursements, ammo, etc that corps usually sell to their players. It also could create a small market within distant areas, like deep null or WH space. Furthermore, it could be cool to see some seedy, black markets appear in Empire, of some pirate corp selling boosters and pleasure slaves out of their POS.

Man, thought exactly about this 2 days ago!
I live in a WH and it is a Hell to manage items there, especially PI that my corp Buy from all members and sell on Jita ( Doing the hard part ) so it would be awesome to set buy/sell orders in a corp market inside the WH, this would save-me allot of time and "Excell sheets"... Also it would create new roles inside the corp, and the corp would take automatically the taxes from the trade! It would be awesome!!!
One structure like this would definitely worth more then a billion ISK... And I hope It can be placed near the POS or have some ways to defend itself....
But the trading without docking would be an awesome new feature... The items would be sold/bought directly from the ship's cargo-hold.
Also if it is visible for everyone it could create a new kind of business... Imagine how nice it would be, you set a fuel buy order a few clicks from your POS and someone just take the fuel there and sell to you!!! ( Perfect at WHs or anywhere away from Outposts)
Thumbs up for this Idea! it have allot of potential!!! |

Although the name is not good... "Player-Owned Trade Post" would be better.... |

I think this is the kind of player driven function that CCP likes to see. Beware thought, this puts your protective nook on the RADAR. Talk about marketing PvP. Be prepared to protect your assets. This also could lead to scams as you could buy from a location, warp to it, and go pop from the weapons there.
In short, a good idea in-line with game ideals, but harder to implement than stated. |

I also have a spin off of this idea in PI 2.1. A network type devoted to allowing players to setup stores for all the market categories, allowing you to sell items by category on the planet as opposed to in space.
Details of social PI in the 2.1 version will be posted in the assembly hall soon enough. |

that would be handy - get some of the functionality of Incarna in FIS. Though it would work around the benifits of Incarna bringing less of a need to bring incarna into play.
Though they would be destroyable so the value of what is put into these locations can't be too great otherwise a group may come along and blow it up to take the goods.
ah the lives of the innocent... lost... I agree with several people: CCP needs to focus most of eve's recources on FIS, but the development of WIS still needs to continue, just as a slower and more efficient pace. In eve I wish to be more than just a machine. |

this would go along way towards null markets making a come back if you could set it to corp/alliance only. I love the the smell of victory in the morning. It smells like... Blood, vomit and burning flesh. I Like You. I'll Kill You Last. |

This would really help on corp management since with a corp/alliance owned market you can, easily mass manage the assets of the corp/alliance... like: buying ores from all corp members at pre-set price and selling them ships with reduced prices ... Buying things that will be hauled to trade-hubs with lower prices like PI/ore/salvage, and seling it to the player that will make the haul... It have ALLOT of potential uses!!! please CCP take a look at this with some care! It will make the game much more interesting and less stressful for corp/alliances managers... |
