you know, as I spend more time mining, playing with long-cycle weapons (IE: arties, railguns, beam lasers, etc...) I find myself wishing I knew where I was in the cycle so I could anticipate switching, targeting, etc. so, just an idea. give us an indicator as to where a device is in its cycle. my thoughts would be something like, keep the green for on, red for on but trying to turn off, but then give us like a blue overlay that reduces itself in pie-chart form so that we can tell how long is left in a cycle. it should be able to run client side (ie: not put more load on the ccp hamsters :3) and just make sure to add an option to turn it off...... any thoughts anyone?

I like the shaded radial wipe that Warcraft III uses on special abilities. I think it would translate effectively to EvE, and you could optionally have a numerical representation imposed over it, if that's your bag.

After reading the post about colour blind mods, I'd say have the two colour system we have now green/red with the option to change them to allow for colour blindness. Whatever it happens to be is the colour used for the pie chart. Default, solid green fire but wipes down as the cycle counts down for the next shot. Similarly red wiping down to show when the mod will be ready to fire again.
Handy for any long ROF weapons like mining lasers, missiles and defence mods like hardeners and others like AB/MWD etc. Similar countdown to show when the mod can be activated next in the case of cloaks etc that have time limits between activations.

here's the thing with using whatever color shows active/inactive, if you use that color on a long cycle module, there will be instances where you can't tell if it's on/off or whatever right at the end. it could cause you to screw something up. if you do two color, one that overlays and reduces, the other that just tells if off/on, you'll have a very low chance of getting confused or having something go wrong. ^^; ----------------------------------------------------------------
