Sometimes when i'm logged on in game but have stepped "away" to check something on eve online, or i'm in game with my screen filled with windows, or i'm monitoring local, or any number of other distractions, I go back to my corp chat screen and find that someone has been trying, unsuccessfully, to get my attention.
It would be great if there were a way of generating a sound, a bell or a buzzer of some sort, that would tell me that someone is trying to reach me.
When the shoe is on the other foot i have tried opening a private convo but people tend to get irritated when a big chat window pops up in the middle of a tough mission or during a pvp fight. . . . Regards, August Soldier of the Gooch |

As silly as it might seem, I have sometimes used any of the messenging clients available through major networks. I don't want to say a name here to imply any preference, but the concept is to run Eve in windowed mode (as I am constantly checking other things) and have the message/alarm/buzz active with sounds to alert you that someone needs you.
Does this seem silly? Yeah probably, but it works.
So until CCP comes up with an appropriate ingame system, I will stick with what I have.

That would be a nice idea, except that Some players (like myself) turn off the sounds, so that would defeat the purpose of an audible as the sound would be not activated.

You could achieve the same thing by turning off your computer altogether. No system however good is going to work if people disable the hardware it runs on. . . . Regards, August Soldier of the Gooch |
