You should have enough RAM left for EVE to run with the shared memory. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. They got Ray |

lol, mate if my 64mb voodoo gfx card can run it on 1280x1024 and get 40-60 fps then im sure that card can run it.
The only thing you should really worry about eve is memory, if your pc hasnt got enough memory then eve will start to lag up, mine has 2.5gb and lags after a good few hours of play.

The correct answer is that it will run EVE as it is now.
But its the bottem heap of gfx cards available today.

Yes it will run eve as it is now fine, to run kali on absolute top notch settings ide think your going to have to shell out 200-300 quid for a top of the range gfx card.

To you both for finding a laptop that will run eve for under ú600 :)
Anyone know of a laptop even cheaper that can run eve without problems?
Great stuff :)

I'm running an AMD semperon 2600+, 768MB RAM and a radeon x700. Eve runs OK but in fleet ops, FPS just drps to about 3 FPS :( .... possibly memory or just a ****e gfx card? it's not even that old...just wasn't one of the top spec ones

Wow, wtf is with this thread? like the lines overflow the forum board :/
Anyways.....I run a Readon Mobility 9000 IGP and it works good enough to run Eve. Except when i goto a POS and my comp ****s itself and blows its resolution up. . So im sure that will work for you.

My Sapphire Raedon doesn't even generate noticable heat when I play EVE.
If it has more than 32megs of ram, it's a good enough video card to run eve.

1) A ú300 GFX card is NOT top of the range, it's high range. A top of the range GFX setup would be around ú800 (eg. Crossfire x1800XTX *drool*)
2) I can Oblivion at full graphics with little noticable slow down on an x850pro that cost ú140 last year. EVE, under dx9.0c, should never use nearly as much GPU power as Oblivion does (there's just not enough going on to justify it). -----

shared memory sucks allways since the memory speed is much lower then graphic memory speed (DDR2/DDR3)
My Toshiba Satelite M30 runs with a Geforce 5200Go card (no share memory and 32MB graphic memory) - 768MB Ram and can run 1 or 2 clients. 2 clients laggier of course, but one client smooth as a baby ass
FYI: My notebook is already 2 years old so most notebooks now should run it with an ease (if not to cheap hardware)

eve isnt much of a GFX card user tbh, with eve ur GPU kinda sits there twiddleing its thumbs , eve just eats ur CPU more than anything, but with the new client comming soonish it will change.

EVE even runs on an old 32MB Geforce DDR card (I know, I've been saying that in several graphics-related threads now ).
Has a few graphics glitches, but nothing that endangers game play (back side of rings not occluded by planets, sun shining through everything including planets, asteroid surfaces looking very strange). Frame rate drops heavily around stations and some collidable objects, probably should ebay for something a little more recent.

my gfx card was only around 250, and it is very much top-range. It gets maybe 1-3 less fps on a cranked-out-the-ass game than I get on par with a few 512meg cards (mine is 256).
Now for you pyschos who use 2 512 meg cards, you're just nutty.

From what i understand of the Kali upgrade, a whole lot of graphic calculations that are currently done by the CPU are going to be shoved onto the GPU along with the new DX9c functions. Does this mean that CPU usage should go down and those of use with shiny graphics cards (inc. me as of yesterday :D) will actually be able to make use of them to their full potential?
oh and btw Hunters Presence whats the rest of your rig like and what settings do you use on oblivion as im having troulbe using high settings with my 6800GS?

Im using 2 x Nvidea 6800Gt's in SLI, way overkill at the minute but should be sweeeeeet when the graphix updates come in next year.

Your processor is more important for EVE than the graphics card, the graphics themselves are beautiful but relatively simple it's the amount of stuff on screen that needs to be processed that makes the bigger difference.

I am currently playing with an Acer Travelmate 242lc with Intel Integrated graphics. Pretty poor performance at 1-2 fps. It's okay if I keep away from systems with too many ships.
Will a Dell XPS 1710 be okay to play Eve for next 3 years?
